    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i know this is probably a lot easier said then done, but it would be nice if there were a way to browse members by their local. some of us like to avoid shipping cross country when we can and like supporting other breeders in our area. every now and then i see someone from Chicago and i wonder just how many there are local that i do not know of.
 
Maybe have some sort of members map?

But then that feature would actually have to be used by people... :rolleyes:
 
Unless everyone got straight jacketed into a particular format to use for a LOCATION field, it would wind up being useless anyway. Search routines are pretty limited when it comes to being "smart" about fuzzy logic searches. For instance, just trying to search for people in Alabama, when people might use "Alabama", "AL", "Abalama", "LA (Lower Alabama)", "Birmingham, AL", "Mobile", etc., etc. would be quite a challenge for any search program to do successfully.
 
While you can't search the members list you can put Chicago into the general search function and you will see several current ads where people mention they are in your local area.

Also, I'm not sure how beneficial to have that ability would be for the purpose you have mentioned, because

there may be many members that are in your area but aren't sellers. You would have to remember which ones were then search ads for that user name.

While we did have the ability to search the ads themselves for location when we had a different ad system, I don't beleive it is an option within the forum based classified system here.

Usually though, if someone is interested in doing local trades they post such within their ads and it will show up in the general search function.

Searching your city or state I think is the best option.

Also, you could post a ad for local trades as well.
Another good idea would be start a thread (you could do so in the welcome room) stating that you would like to meet and support local breeders to your area.
