    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just built this cage for my iguana..I stained the inside with water based..I was wondering how long should I let it air out?...and also I was wondering what would be good to put on bottom so it makes things easier to clean?...and I heard that indoor outdoor carpet is good for inside of cage..but i was wondering would I have to worry about mildew?
or do ya'll just clean the carpet every couple days?...and my last question is..should I put the clear stuff they use to seal in glass cages around openish areas in floor and ceilings and around the windows? I wasn't sure if moisture would get inside those tiny cracks.. so any imformation or links would be great..thank you..sorry for so many questions just like to be safe for him

Follow the directions on the stain, I'd let it air out a day or so and then put a couple coats of polyurethane, make each coat thin and sand lightly between coats.
Some people use that carpet, I ended up not liking it after a while when I tried it because it was hard to clean well although it looked nice. I'm thinking various disposable materials such as cypress mulch, but then you have to have an area with no mulch where you can put its salad and other food. Would love to see a picture.

I used shelving paper, like what you put in the drawers in the kitchen. Might sound kinda weird but it worked well and was very easy to clean. I had a water bowl mid-level and another large water tub at the bottom, iggy normally would do his business in the water at the bottom and I would just change it right after, once or twice a day. Here's a bad pic of the set-up, the shelving paper was a green and white marble pattern. There were 3 levels but you can only see 2 here.

I wish I had a better pic, to clarify, the cord was cut off the hot rock and I did lower the UVB bulb so it wasn't up so high.

If you do use indoor-outdoor carpet, get 2 pieces of the same size so when you pull the one out to clean, you can put the other one in. They need to be cleaned every time they get dirty (which can be daily).

If you have cracks that you are worried about mold growth, yes, you can use clear aquarium sealant. Just make sure to give it at least 24 hours or more to cure (follow the directions). With good airflow you shouldn't have to worry too much about mold/mildew. I also useda reptile safe cleaner (I use Quat Plus) which is also anti-fungal and helps retard the grown of mildews.

Good luck with you iggy!
