A. M. Linkfield here or April Linkfield If you prefer....
Id like to show some love for generalexotics.com
Now at first the site doesnt appear to be much, its mostly white, not all jazzed up like other sites... But thats probably because they spend their time taking care of the decent selection of critters they have instead of the site. It is regularly updated though. and anything you want to know thats not on the site.. Just ask them!
Heres some cool things about this site. And it has alot to chose from!
one: Everything is well organized so you can get directly to what you are looking for quickly. If Im looking for a blood python I know I can get on this site and hit snakes-pythons and boas- and scroll down. If they are out of stock it says so before you click on it.. which is nice. (Or if you prefer just type in what your looking for into the search engine on top left) if they're out theyll send you an email when they get them back in stock.
Two: The cart system will save your cart if your a registered member (free) and its super easy to use and the prices are competitive at their highest and downright a steal on some others....
Three: Almost everything is sexed, and from what ive bought so far, properly. If your anal about only having a female of a species, check the female box, click add to cart. No worrries. helps if you really dont want another male leo in your colony lol.
3: They have pictures of the actual critter for sale, and If its not the one your buying they will tell you. If you want a picture of the actual one your buying send them an email asking for one and they will send it.
4: And this is what stood them out for me. They will send you the feeding history of the animal with them (if they have been in stock long enough to even have one lol). So there isnt any guess work. I know that the house snakes I bought ate a last saturday so I know exactly when to expect them to eat again. Too cool.
So heres the personal experience part.
I live in alaska, so obviously the health of the critters that are shipped here are top concern for me. Its bloody cold here and I hate to pay for a snake popsicle. I talked to them about it, they reassured me and held my order for a day that was safest for the snakes to ship.
I bought a sexed trio of African House snakes.
I was sent an email when the order was processed for shipping along with a tracking number, for those of us who are concerned about the temperatures throughout the journey you know how comforting the tracking number alone can be.
Housies are known to breed at ridiculously young ages and I had assumed they wouldnt know this and send them all three in a deli cup together, or housed them all together at the facility so I was almost certian I'd end up with gravid females to nurse. ugh. but I knew that would happen.
But when they came in, they were in seperate deli containers, marked male or female, and packed with what appears to be fine grade aspen it was very cushy and I could tell that it must have helped with the stress being able to bury themselves in it and not being knocked around so much by it insulating the cups.
The females werent gravid which was better than I expected.
I opened the males cup to place him in his new tub (rack system) and I pulled him out and he immediately whipped around and bit me on the hand. I was like whoa fiesty... I havent had that happen before so fresh from shipping. I was a bit surprised but it as more or less a good sign. He has since then tamed down. All three of them ate f/t two days later.
There was no hassle at all. I had all the information I needed the whole time and afterwards they even emailed to check to make sure they came in alright. It wasnt your standard send me the money and its your problem now that ive had before.
Its too cold now to ship but if it wasnt Im sure I would buy from them again.
So if you are looking into them, they come highly recommended!
