• Responding to email notices you receive.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I saw one thread about this place and was wondering if anyone had anything else to add to it? Their site is less then helpful they have all these neat sales yet 80% of their stock is out and there is no way to "add" anything to your cart? :shrug01::shrug01:

On their site they have a fauna classified good guy certificate. Does that really mean nothing on this site? I really want to order from them but not if I'm going to get unhealthy animals or charged for services not really needed.

Okay folks. I am less educated than are the balance of the people who post here...however, I have to say, the baby RES I purchased from this company was completely satisfactory. The little guy/girl (a baby RES) was exactly the size I requested. Further, the little guy/girl is very hardy, garrulous, even. Really. This little cutie has made my aquarium habitat so much more interesting, that I am even considering rescuing a red footed tortioise from my local PetSmart. Thats how pleased I am with the whole adventure...Turtles rule!!!!!

Is this a generic response? how does your experiences with them have ANYTHING to do with rescuing a red footed tortioise. Sounds like a response used to boost the rep of this website IMO :shrug01:

That post made absolutely no sense. Who are you Maryluke?

Wow...okay... First, I was replying to queries as to whether people had experience with General Exotics. I posted my positive experience. I don't think its a far jump to realize that once you have had a positive experience, you might consider moving into other related areas, such as owning a tortoise, if you like turtles...On the otherhand, if your experiences are negative, it is unlikely you would attempt to expand your "collection" especially if you are relatively new to the hobby. I don't know anyone at Gen. Exotics...Next time, I will simply read the posts and not annoy you by responding. I am only on this site at all to get some positive information about the best care for my turtles...I don't need to respond ever, ever again. Appreciate that you take this very, very seriously....

The FACT that you bought a RES says a lot! This is the most common illegal sold reptile in the business! And one of the most common rescue reptile burdening our hobby! If you really cared about turtles, you would not have fueled the illegal trade but taken one in on a rescue if you are equipped to do so.

MOST persons getting a RES are not informed of the size these animals attain (especially female). I hope you live in a climate that can maintain them year around in an outdoor pond. Most people do not have the room for large aquarium (100 gallon +) to maintain them indoors.

Don't let these excessively negative and bitter people turn you away, they just can't handle when someone disagrees with them, or even says anything positive for that matter. Say what you want when you want, this is a public forum. Get tougher skin because these people on here would rip you apart if you were Mother Theresa because they hate their own lives and therefore positivity burns them like the sunlight. Relax.

I bought a red blood python from General Exotics.I would give them a c+ on the whole experience. The snake was drop-shipped from Florida, and although she got her ok, she was in a 10" square box in nothing more than a cloth bag, no padding/cushion of any kind. She HAD to have been jostled around pretty bad. She was also very cold, and extremely thirsty when she got here.

She was very limp, listless, and pretty traumatized, and it took me filing a claim through paypal to get the guy to even acknowledge my emails. There was conflicting information on what the baby was currently feeding on... one place stated f/t pinky mice, and another place stated live mice. She was very lethargic, and limp for several weeks. She finally did start feeding well, and has come along quite well.
This was my first experience at acquiring reptiles that required shipping. I have since received a snake from another breeder, and the difference in the packaging was like night and day.
While I am not going to slander General Exotics, I will not be a return customer. I have since been educated on the proper shipping procedures. I believe I lucked out on this snake, which could have gone either way with the careless shipping.
