In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just had my first opportunity to use these guys.
Wow, what an easy experience.
Excellent communication, super easy to use, and very prompt on the pick-up.
Great job, guys!

Since they've switched to FedEx, I have not had such nice experiences with them. They delayed a package for TWO days and basically lied to make me happy..The buyer noticed a problem when tracking the package and notified me. I called and they apologized and assured me it was on time and would get to him that day. Later, I get a call saying the package will not be delivered and wasn't even at the location I called..After talking to the buyer, he told me they've had to deal with FedEx problems multiple times..It was very upsetting and deters me from shipping with them in the near future. Luckily the snakes were alive when they got to their new home.
I've always been a supporter of SYR and they themselves are great..FedEx, not so much. :/

I've shipped four packages since they switched to Fed-Ex with no issues so far. Every one of them was delivered on time.

I love SYR, and have been using them long enough that I have had a few issues, they resolved them quickly which was great. I just used them yesterday.

Yeah I have no problem with SYR, their customer service, prices, and supplies or great..I just got a little shook up with FedEx in worrying about the condition of my snakes and the false statements.. :/

Well, for my first experience with SYR/FedEx, I've had mixed results.

I had two packages leave California yesterday for delivery to my home in Buffalo, NY.

Box 1-Sent from Sunnyvale CA. Got here by 9:30 today. Gecko/package in great condition. Driver was friendly, courteous, and helped direct me to what I should do about Box 2.

Box 2-Sent from San Diego. Never LEFT San Diego. MIGHT get here tomorrow...or MONDAY.

With two crested geckos.

Needless to say, 50% customer satisfaction is NOT what I'm looking for in a shipper!!

Did any of you know that FedEx planes have the RIGHT TO REFUSE REPTILES??

That's what I was told today.

Then I get the run-around from the second person I talked to.

Maybe the box wasn't packaged right, maybe it got to the shop too late, maybe the plane was full. MAYBE YOUR PEOPLE DON'T WANT TO WORK WITH SYR!!!!

MAYBE I'll never buy from a vendor who insists on using FedEx!! And I CERTAINLY won't EVER ship through FedEx myself-for ANYTHING.

Or UPS, either, for that matter. They can't even follow their own protocols!

I don't blame SYR for this.

I blame FedEx.

From now on, it's USPS or NOTHING.

The only trouble with USPS is the fact it's illegal to ship snakes. What I've learned with shipping is that you will have to be sure to pound into their heads what you need before you even give them the box. I've dealt with problems with UPS and FEDEX moreso than USPS. but USPS doesn't have the quality facilities that UPS and FEDEX have. I to prefer USPS, but laws and customer preference controls the use of shipping companies. I would suggest making sure to get the package in early in the day at the shipping facility and making sure the package is labeled for deliveries on just-in-case basis. I wholesale reptiles and breed them, so I ship thousands of dollars a week, yet there always atleast one box from ups or fedex that does not make it on time, gets refused for being a day late, because of employee neglegence at a nearby UPS hub I'm dealing with thousands of dollars in reptiles being confiscated. Just be careful who you ship through, and when you do it, how it's labeled, etc. The employees of these companies are human, and probably feel overworked/underpaid and don't want to deal with doing their job. Though I personally don't like UPS or Fedex, I need their services to make my income, and fuel my hobbies.

Okay.

After several calls back from FedEx, and getting nowhere, Walt from SYR called me back.

My geckos are in Memphis or on their way there NOW, then headed north for delivery tomorrow.

The reason they were NOT allowed on the plane was that the plane was "loaded with too much dry ice", which depletes the oxygen in the cabin, making it dangerous for animals to be in there.

But-nobody could tell ME this, during our MANY calls.

Walt is a stand-up guy!!

I have NO GRIPE with him...in fact he just might be my new hero!!

Confiscated? What happens then as far as the package?
Is the shipper able to hold FEDEX or UPS responsible if the animals are DOA? I've been wondering these things since I will be having to ship snakes in the next few months.

I personally would never buy from someone who ship USPS. We don't even have a next day delivery from them. It's always two days. Even if it was one day, I still wouldn't use them. I've had issues with Fed-Ex delivering here, but never UPS. Luckily shipping fed-ex isn't an issue.

As far as confiscated issue went. Ups called a fish and game, fish and game came down and checked to make sure none of the animals were illegal to ship, then we got our packages back and have to hold onto the animals until I can ship them again.

No , you know have to become a "Certified Shipper" Through Fedex to ship reptiles. After sending in a test package and having the test package pass you sign a waiver saying that Fedex is NOT responsible for any mishandling, DOA's, Lost property or anything else of the manner. I'm sure you could try and sue them, but doubt you'd get very far as you HAVE to sign the "Legal Waiver" in order for Fedex to activate your Account. Hope that helps you out.

What? So if FedEx loses the package they are not held responsible? Or is that referring to animals that have escaped from the package?

NOT if you use SYR!! If you pack according to SYR instructions, FedEx allows you to ship without being a Certified Shipper.

Anywho...

Here was my morning!!

The geckos made it to Buffalo, and were placed on the cart for today's shipment by the manager (He's a frogger, so when he saw Live Geckos written on the box, he knew they had to go out!) HOWEVER, somebody took the box off and moved it to Monday's cart!!

I think it was the snotty girl I talked to many times yesterday and hung up on. But I have no proof.

Anyway-I ended up driving out to the airport office to pick them up.

I opened the box with my nail file right there at the counter, and the girl asked what I was doing, and I told her I wasn't leaving until I made sure my $300.00 worth of live geckos wasn't killed by their screw-ups...right in front of several customers.

I also asked to see the manager and she asked me why!! I said that I wanted him to know what crappy service I got with this transaction-from San Diego's office AND Buffalo.

Meanwhile, I got the box open, and two lovely, fat, and sassy geckos waited to be liberated!!

I spoke to the manager, who is a frogger, and he doesn't get why they were bumped from the plane! He said they ALL have at least 8 compartments, and he's sure they didn't all have dry ice in them. He said the geckos were really cute, and petted and held Tigger!! And I told him about our local herp shows, because he just came back from Buffalo after years in Tenn. and he's looking for a female tree frog or ten for his males. When he calls back, I'm gonna tell him about FaunaClassifieds.com, and let him know he can more than likely find female tree frogs there.

He was just as nice as my delivery guy.

Also-HE put the box on the cart for today's delivery-based on the fact that they're LIVE GECKOS,and SOMEONE moved them to Monday's cart!! I'm betting on Miss Pi$$y Be-otch! I THINK she's the one who waited on me today, and when she told me to sign the clip-board for the package, I wrote F*** YOU rather than my name.

The manager is really curious about WHY the geckos were bumped, and he's gonna get us answers. He said that in 25 years of working for FedEx, he's NEVER heard of animals being bumped off a flight! He said it may take a few days, but he WILL get back to me.

I also told him everything I told Walt, and he said I was right-50% is NOT good enough!

He was really a sweet guy.

right I know SYR let's you bypass the certification. but it's just to easy to get the certification IMHO. no fedex is not responsible if they lose your package. they also aren't held accountable if they damage your package and the reptile escapes. I will post the contract words on here later.

Samantha,

I am surprised you had geckos shipped out on a Thursday. So close to the weekend is tempting a possible snafu in the shipping process.

I forgot to add. I recieved a shipment via FedEx/SYR on Wednesday. The shipment got here bright and early as expected. Nothing but smooth sailing.
