This little(HUGE) guy/girl has been hanging out on my back porch for the past few days. I'm inclined to guess that it's a wolf spider, but I'm not positive. I live between Baltimore and DC in Maryland, if that helps identify it. It's legspan is about 4" across.
I used Photoshop's fill flash to lighten it up a bit. It has only come out at night, that we've seen

regardless what it is... its too damn big and ugly. ICK! i hate spider first sign of that booger and id be off with a fly swatter and a can of raid spider spray oh and some big clompy shoes and my husband as a back up incase i got to scared i ran and wet myself. YUCK!

It looks like a fishing spider. They are very closely related to wolf spiders. In any case it's completely harmless and just hanging out for free meals on the side of the house.
