jnjreptile any info on them???

Getting ready to make a purchase from them on monday. Wanted to check here first. The BOI search didnt turn up anything so if figured I better inquire to see if anyone else has dealt with them.

No one here has ever done business with them?? Guess We will take our chances and post outcome afterwards. Hopefully this will end up being a "Good Guy" post for them. I know they are Fauna members.

What do they work with and where are they? The name is familiar but I don't recall why.

If I am not mistaken, they have a Jungle het for Kahl stripe for $400, that would make me cautious about dealing with them.

also, they have negative "rep" points for some reason but i couldnt find out why. Someone told me that they remember a post about them but i couldnt find anything. I checked his profile and tracked back all his posts and still found nothing.
And yes the kahl stripe het seems too good to be true but you never know!

Why don't you ask for a picture of that boa? Then ask them if it came directly from Pete and if it can be confirmed with him. Then contact Pete, he usually keeps records of the animals he sells and might be able to confirm if in effect he produced that snake. He is pretty good replying to those requests.

I know there is info here on the BOI and if I recall correctly it was not positive. Something about them being real young and not accurately describing their animals. I tried to locate the info myself and am not pulling up anything but their name is VERY familiar.

I remember someone posting about them as well but I just cant find it, maybe I have to use a broader search term or something. I emailed them for a pic of the boa.
i will email Kahl to see if he has any records of sales to JnJ reptile. Wheres the "Ferret" when you need him, he is always real good at digging up info good or bad.

Hey it is J&J Reptiles. The only negative was people questioning the purple blizzard lizards we had posted which came from the bells. As for the 100% het for kahl stripe boa. Hello All,

I have known J n J reptiles for about 7 years now. Since I grew up in Maine and started my reptile career there I knew them from the pet shop circuit, shows, and Maine Herp Society. We sold animals back and forth while we worked in shops. Josh got interesting animals from importers, and I sold him a lot of CB stuff that my shop was producing. Since moving to Florida I have started wholesaling and cherry picking to them and many of the animals came from me.

I can't verify all thier animals since they get animals from a range of places however the boa in question, jungle het kahl stripe came from me. It was an animal I picked up a long time ago to put into my boa project but I recently had to cut 75% of my projects down. Due to the volume of animals they buy from me I gave them a hell of a deal on several boas in a package deal. This animal has no paperwork as I never got any with it, Josh is going by what I told him and that is what I was told. So the price is to reflect that this is a super aberrant animal, that is most likely a true jungle-not the fact that it is was originally sold to me as 100% het kahl stripe also.

Please feel free to contact me upon whatever animals and I will validate whether they came from myself or not. As far a boas go they currently have 05 het albinos, 04 frank martin aneries, and a mexican dwarf from myself.

As far as a good guy versus bad guy rating I would go on the side of good guy as I have witnessed thier willingness to work with consumers when thier was a problem, worked with the issues of shipping, and honored guarantees.

As with any jobber/starting breeder you have to understand that animals may be turned over quickly and issues may arise that they were unaware of. And as I have found if you work with them they will work with you. I have never seen josh withhold the origin of the animal from a customer either.

How old is that boa? Did the person who sold it to Benjamin buy it straight from Peter? Not sure that it matters or not as it is sold w/o paperwork, but just out of curiosity as it is sold as 100% hetero for stripe. I’m not really sure how many people besides Pete are producing 100% hetero for stripe from stripe adults.

Josh and his wife are very good people to deal with. I've received over a dozen animals from these folks on seperate occasions and they've always arrived on time, as described, in excellant health and packed VERY well. All throughout the transactions they stayed in constant contact with me and were very quick to reply to my inquiries. They've always gave me the full rundown on every single animal and have made sure to send very complete feed-shed-defication cards along with each animal as well. I fully intend to continue doing business with these folks for many years to come.

I got the animal in the late winter/spring of 03 as a very very young animal. It got exceptionally chilled during shipping and didn't feed regularly until mid summer 03. It has become a voracious eater but it went off feed for the entire winter of 04-almost as long as my b.p.'s! This animal is not as big as it can/would normally be but I would gamble that it will be a good breeder if its instincts to self brumate are this good already.

I don't know if josh ever posted pics or not to the respective parties but this animal actually LOOKS like a kahl stripe already, even though I was told it was het.


If the respective party is still nervous about this boa I will offer this.

If the animal doesn't produce jungle or partial stripe/kahl stripe babies I will buy it back (as long as it is in good health)!! That is how confident I am in this boa is something special!

Thanks for your reply. If I understand this right and this is an 03' that was sold to you as 100% hetero for Kahl stripe. Did Pete himself produce that boa or was it someone else? I'm not that much into the stripe bloodline, all I know is that it's quite recent. How many other breeders had in 2002 at least one striped adult boa to be able to produce 100% heteros?

Update ...Turned out very well!!!!

Well we went ahead and ordered from J&J reptile and it worked out very well. The animals were very well packaged, all were healthy, and all were represented perfectly. He kept in communication with us constantly and was very helpful.
Also he went a bit above and beyond for us. The gentleman (JAY) that runs the Bayville store did the paypal payment to J&J and used a E-check which he didnt realize takes a few days to clear and our customer needed one of those snakes by friday, when we informed J&J of the situation they went ahead and shipped us the animals anyway. Not a lot of people would ship before payment clears so my hats off to J&J for giving the benefit of doubt.
You can bet will will be buying from J&J reptile again, its nice to have another "good Guy" to deal with!!!
