In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

anybody sell these and ship to US? I have heard they are good for picky feeders, any advice? If they aren't that reliable in supply, I don't think I will try them, but I have heard a few good things about them. thanks!

Well I can get them but can't ship. Too hard to ship rodents unless they are frozen. These aren't dead and a normal price is like 5-10 bucks a pair or so or like a few bucks a piece. All depends who sell them
John, wish I knew who you know, I just set up a good sized group of these and payed quite abit for them! :)

Randy, Mine bite the crap out of me, are you having a similar experience! :hehe:

The rats are very prolific, so the price drops quickly when more than 1 person in the area has them. I have been selling them for $25 a trio, but produce far more than there is demand, so I feed a bunch to my boas.
The females are very aggressive when they have babies about to be weaned, I have had them kill the male. My theory is the male wants the babies to disperse, but in a tub they have no place to disperse to, so the female protects them, like a mama bear, and fights to the death can occur.

That is what the tail is for :)

Just to chime in...I have very little if any aggressive behavior with mine and even less towards each other. I don't give them the opportunity to bite, as Casey said...use the "built-in" handle :D

If you find them, let me know, will you? I'm in No. Cal. as well.

African soft furred rat breeders

I asked a couple of people on another forum about these. A lady sent me this PM.

Re: African soft furred rat breeders
Here is the email of the gentleman who ships them.

I asked how much a 1.2 lot would be and it was 98 shipped. However he has a 3.7 lot for 150 shipped which is the better buy IMO.

[email protected]

I'm still trying to track down the CA breeder I saw, sorry it's taking so long.

Thanks
Melissa

Hope this helps some of you.

Are they kept in trios? How prolific are they?

Thanks.

Sorry all

OOPS! I did not do any research on him. Just went and posted a message I got. I'll check the person being referred better next time.

No problem, you might want to tell the people that referred him about those threads. ;)

Bill,

I beat you to it and I already paypaled them :D :D Seriously now, some time ago I had a small colony of spiny mice, very "palatable" little morsels specially for picky eaters. Regrettably they became "extinct" in my premises. I'm looking for more though. If someone knows where to find them relatively cheap please let me know. I might give those rats a try to...I mean not me ;)

I don't remember what state you reside in, but I do know there are some breeders located in Michigan and Illinois. Can't remeber names right off the bat, but might be able to find them if you are close.

There is a guy in FL who keeps running adds on KS for frozen SF rats.

Ed,, lol well don't play so rough with them!! Mine seem OK they don't jump on me or attack lol

I picked mine up the first of Dec, and already have 4 litters from them.

Dan if you find any spiny mice let me know I want to pick some of those guys up.. Anyone ever have any pigmy mice??Randy
