Hi all, Looking at some animals from Prehistoric Pets in Fountain Valley, Ca. Anybody deal with these guys? Specifically interested in animal health, quality, and the cleanliness of their facility if anyone knows. Thanks for any and all replies. Peace, TC - TC Reptile |

Posted At 09:22:30 02/28/2001 Hello! I used to live by there (huntington beach) for 3 years, I visited Prehistoric all the time... the store has had it's ups and downs, last I saw about a year ago it was very nice. Not everything is set up as good as it could be (they still feed their iggys lettuce and keep them on bark, last I saw) but most of the animals are kept pretty well. A lot of the animals they offer for sale are not actuallly at the store, but from a wholesaler, so just be aware of that. They do have quite a variety *in* the store although a lot seem to just be "show" pieces, like the adult rock pythons and burms. FYI I have only purchased from in the store, not online. My opinion. -April |

Posted At 19:20:29 03/03/2001 Well, I answered my own question today by driving down to look at some baby Amarali that were advertised on Kingsnake and looked great. I was taken into a room that was overpowering with stench and shown some very beautiful baby Amarili.....all LOADED with mites.....needless to say, I put my wallet away and thanked the guy.....then split! Posted At 22:47:14 03/04/2001 I'm sorry to hear that. I was there this past summer. My sister told me what a great place it was. I too put my checkbook away and left empty handed. I was hoping it had gotten better since then. Of course, my sister told me that normally it was much better than and I should give them another chance. I haven't and won't. I'm glad that others have been happy with their purchases. They do have some very nice animals. I think is a shame the way they don't try to take better care of them. Of course, you could have been there on yet another of their "OFF" days. My sister still swears by the place. She loves it!! Chrysta :) |
