I have lost my supplier. I was using the big chese rodent factory, but apparently they went out of business. I tried cajun rats, but was not happy with the sizes I got. Their larges were the size of the mediums that I had become accustomed to. I'm not bashing them. I just want bigger rats I have tried SAS as refered by Peter Kahl, they have yet to contact me. I am a small breeder. I am not in this for the money. I wish to aquire certain types and morphs of boas and I need to do it through the purchace of hets, double hets or breeding the line myself. I am looking for rats that are the correct size and wieght as there name suggest. A jumbo to me is 200-300 grams. I'm not going to list the wieghts individually, but I think you can get my drift. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Ernie |

I use www.miceonice.com
2245.html Posted At 08:32:46 04/05/2001 I don't know how they compare to what you have been using (I don't go by weights myself) but they may be worth a shot. I have always gotten excellent service and timely delivery on every order I've made and the quality is top notch IMO. |

2249.html Posted At 12:05:31 04/05/2001 Go to the Rat Cafe (Jeff ROnne) his rats are just what you are looking for. The only draw back is that you have to order at least $150 worth. |

Re: I need rats
2470.html Posted At 22:58:25 04/10/2001 I am going to give sassupply.com a try. Peter Kahl recomended them. Even though I don't know him, I know I can trust him. He is well established and knows his business. I don't have a large inventory of boas. The sizes of what I need and quantity changes every few months, so I want someone that can supply this demand and SAS has stepped up to the plate. There are a lot of quality rats/mice for sale, but I don't want someone telling me that I have to pay X amount of money or buy X amount of rats/mice. I am use to getting huge rats, so when I place an order with someone and pay the same price for for jumbos and get what I would call a medium and pay the same price is not smart business in any sense. I need to keep my costs and waste down. These are my pets first and foremost. I don't want to take a chance of rats going bad or getting freezer burn. Yes, vacuum sealing helps, but once that bag is open and if there is a large quantity, eventually you will have waste. I have tried several things to keep them fresher longer, short of buying a vacuum sealer. When the rats get freezer burn my boas won't eat them. I don't eat freezer burned food why should I expect them to. I want to order what I want when I want. I am the customer, it is supposed to be easy for me not the company I buy from. I also want my boas to grow at a healthy and strong rate and I want them to have food that is healthy for them not food that can cause tumors or other sicknesses. I appreciate all your input and I thank you for your time. Thank you very much, Ernie |

Re: I need rats
3120.html Posted At 00:57:54 05/04/2001 I have used cajunmice.com. I was very disappointed with the size of their large rats and jumbo rats. Their larges were the size of mediums and their jumbos were the size of larges. I may just be spoiled. The jumbo rats I use to get were HUUUUUGE!!! They were about the size of a small rabbit. I called sassupply.com tody and placed an order. I will let you all know what I think. I will get them Wednesday next week. I could get live too if I wanted. I placed a small order to check them out, but they said I didn't have to buy $100 worth or order 100 to a bag. Their prices are reasonable too. I have 11 boas and I bought enough to hold me for 1 month. I know if I bought more I could've saved on shipping, but as I said I'm still shopping for a supplier and I want to see what thier quality is before placing a larger order. I want everyone to understand I am not bashing cajunmice.com. They probably have a lot of very happy customers. I just expected larger rats. None of my boas refused their mice or got sick from them. I had a local supplier that was giving me lab rats and I had a boa die from them. They were improperly frozen and who knows what else. I couldn't make the connection of the bad rats, if I could they would be replacing my boa. I had trouble getting them to eat them and when I showed one to my Vet he said it was improperly frozen. They don't sell mice on the web so I don't see the point in posting their name. Thanks. Ernie |
