I have had shipments come throught them but I prefer airborne. I haven't had a problem with them and the orders i recieve come early and in good condition.

I prefer Airborne Express, I've had real good service with them.

I also use Airborne exclusively. I have had several problems with UPS in the past, fortunatly with non herp packages, and I just wouldn't risk sending live animals by them.
I've had packages left at the ups warehouse for over a week before finally calling them and getting it delivered. I have also had boxes delivered that were held together with packaging tape after being punched through with something during shipping. No damage to the contents, but had it been a box of herps, that kind of handling could have easily killed them.
Aiborne on the other hand, has never failed me when either sending or receiving. Never a late or mishandled package yet.

I am sorry for posting this but I have to say that airborne express is a joke and a completely horrible way to ship.

I am not saying this as some Delta supporter but as someone who thought that Airborne was a fine way to ship that was also extremeley convenient considering their billing methods and the fact that they would pick up at my home.

Well after shipping some snakes to texas on a thursday only to have them sit in Illinois for 3 days until monday after repeatedly calling the illinois office explaining that the package needed to go out due to live animals being in the boxes they wanted nothing to do with it, they said that it will be there when it's there and were completely rude. The box finally arrived in texas on a tuesday to of course find all of the snakes dead but two snakes a ghost corn and a hypo bull both in horrible shape. I had to replace the whole order totalling around a thousand dollars. Having called to ask for a refund on at least my shipping expenses for this ridiculous delay they said that the box arrived there and that's all they guarantee (when I tend to disagree, although I don't have their rule book memorized if I am paying for a next day service it shouldn't arrive the following week.) I recieved a bill for the shipping charge anyhow.

I ordered some geckos from a breeder in Arizona (very close to me.) he shipped airborne I agreed, what could go wrong? We are so close! Well the box wound up in New York for some unknown reason, only to have it completely dissapear without a trace! Airborne actually replaced those animals after alot of waiting and more phone calls than either party could count. Completely ridiculous.

They killed two other shipments totalling smaller amounts, and I gave up. There is no reason for a company to have such horrible success. None of the animals lost were delivered on time. No animals delivered on time were ever lost. I pack all animals in styrofoam lined card board reptile or fish shipping boxes with heat packs. There was no plausable reason other than negligence for this to have happened.

Having received animals through UPS two times and shipping through them once I am never trying that again. I agree with the last person posting they are just much too rough on the packages.

In all honesty your best bet is to ship LEGALLY through North West, Delta Air or another carrier. Not only are you insured if something does go wrong, but you are fairly certain that the animals won't go through the horrible experiences they would with other carriers.

Having shipped around 200 boxes in the past two years I think it would be safe to say I have tried just about every method possible and I am a firm believer that there is not even an option other than AirCargo of some sort.

Take care,
Jordan

I tried using Delta but they told me they only ship snakes from zoo shipments. I don't know how others get them to except there packages but i called on different occasions to see what other employees would say and got the same answer. I have recieved one shipment via northwest with no problem. Like i said in my first response i have never had a bad experience with airborne and all my packags are properly labeled So i guess the bottom line is with all the people being serviced you will get mixed reviews so you will have to try them and see how you like.

Here is some advice with the airlines.

Just like with any company you get lazy employees that don't want to do their job. If they have a patented reply to share with their fellow workers for not having to take care of your box then they will try it out. I have had it happen to me, you have to be pushy and act like you know what your'e talking about to an extent even if you may only know a little about it. They will realize you aren't going to let them fool you and will 9 times out of 10 let you ship.

good luck,
Jordan

I have shipped and received packages, boas, equipment and other parcels from UPS, Airborne Express and USPS. UPS has never screwed up. Granted not all areas ship animals. As for Airborne, they have never, ever been able to get a package to me on time. I'm suppossed to get a package next day air and I get it a week latter. Every time. USPS is almost as bad, except they will give you a refund where Airborne won't. I had a cake come from Louisianna and it arrived 4 days late and was sat on it's side and it had a big sticker that said THIS SIDE UP. I guess their drivers can't read. Well, the cake Co. was nice enough to replace the order, but guess what same thing happened again. I'm starting to think that if you give them grief they keep a record of your name and trash all your deliveries. Now, for Delta I only had one shipment go through them and it was due on in like 4 hours on a Tuesday and I recieved it Wednesday and still no refund. I am looking for other options, but until I find one that is economical and promt I will use UPS. I know some of you won't agree, but I do make absolutly sure they are secure and safe. Thanks, Ernie

I have shipped with UPS and
the airlines
never a problem with UPS
Ive received all animals in good condition
mostly because of the senders and their packing
methods[which goes a long way in determining the condition of your animals with rough carriers]
out of the dozen or so times with the airlines
ive had delays ranging from 1 hour to 2 days
[lost package in atlanta] which im sure resulted in the death of the animals, never got them and the seller had to replace them
these are my experiences

I'll add this: NONE of the above companies is consistent in their service. Much depends on your local office and the local office on the recieving end. I've been in areas where the drivers are HORRIBLE with each parcel carrier and in others where the drivers are great. UPS has failed to track packages on numerous occasions in my area. (East Bay Area, SF, CA) Airborne has delivered packages THREE days late. Service for both companies is poor in this area.
