I purchased a Hypo Tangerine Leopard gecko from Boaworks. They claimed the animal weighed 37 grams and could possibly be gravid. I purchased the animal under the assumtion it was flawless. When I recieved it the first thing I noticed was that it was not anywhere near 37 grams. It was acctually 27 grams. (Leopard geckos should be bred at no less 40-45 grams). The next thing I noticed was a kinked tail. I e-mailed the people of Boaworks to inform them of the problems and that I was not satisfied with the animal. They didn't respond. I sent them a follow-up e-mail stating I want to return the animal to them. They didn't respond to that either. I come home the other day to find 2 tiny eggs in the animals hide box. Being bred at this size can and probably will stunt the animals growth and cause problems with it when it breeds agian. I highly recomend NOT doing business with these people. Now this poor gecko will have health problems and I am out $350 unless the dispute on my Credit Card card goes through. |

2598.html Posted At 12:45:20 04/14/2001 Just a quick note, Brett, that you might not be aware of. Leopard geckos can lay infertile eggs even if not exposed to a male. So that female laying eggs (if they are not fertile) could very possibly be through no error or fault of Boaworks. I have no comments on the other details of your message, however. |

2602.html Posted At 14:11:59 04/14/2001 Hi Rich, I am quite aware of the possibilities of a female laying eggs when never ever being exposed to a male. However, I have never once in 5 years of breeding leopard geckos experianced it. Especially at 27 grams! The post from Boaworks clearly said they were breeding and were thought to be gravid. Which leads me to believe they were either misrepresenting their animals or should stick to breeding boas. Putting a 27 gram leopard gecko female with an adult male is the equivilent of statutory rape! I know that Boaworks was at fault and I think they do too being they never replied to either of my e-mails! |

My animals came in very healthy
2625.html Posted At 15:32:36 04/15/2001 I hate to say this but first off I wouldn't geckoes from a place called BOAWORKS??? Just my thought...but as for the purchases I've made from them so far the animals have been exactly as represented to me, I suppose I will have to wait for offspring to find out if they were telling the truth about the snakes genetics but they were prompt in returning my emails and very helpful with working around my insane schedule for delivery, I would recommend them highly for boa purchases. I am sorry you're deal with them has gone bad. |
