Has anyone had a bad experience with my company? I am in need of suggestions and comments on how I can better serve and help with supplying feeders. I appreciate positive and negative comments. I would also like to ask why callers don't leave messages on our answering machine. If you prefer not to post here, please e-mail me with your comments at [email protected]. Webmaster, I hope I haven't broken any rules of your forum. This is a great place to "inquire before you buy". Thanks |

3462.html Posted At 01:58:20 05/20/2001 I buy from SAS supply (sassupply.com). Here are their prices and sizes. Can you beat them? What do you feed your rats? Weight (approx) Description Price 3.5 - 6 grams Rats - Pink $.52 6 - 13 grams Rats - Fuzzie $.57 13- 35 grams Rats - Crawler $.62 40-100 grams Rats - Small $1.10 100-200 grams Rats- Medium $1.30 200- 300 grams Rats - Large $1.55 300-450 grams Rats- Jumbo $1.85 450- 600 grams Rats - Colossal $2.35 If you can beat their price and quality, I may be interested in buying from you. I would like to mention that I don't have to buy a certain quanity or spend a certain amount. If I want one rat they will ship it to me live or frozen. Of course I pay shipping and they charge a box fee. of $6 or $7. Let me know what you can do. Thanks. Ernie |

3463.html Posted At 05:31:41 05/20/2001 Although that I have never bought or inquired about their snacks I will answer your question about the answering machine. Most callers are on long distance and never get a return call on messages that they leave that require a long distance return call. We at herpsnburps put our customer first and return all calls regardless of origin. I have to admit that the prices on the previous reply are hard to beat. Hope this helped solve your mystery Ricky. 3478.html Posted At 21:24:24 05/20/2001 John, I appreciate your reply. We have a toll-free number for potential customers to call in on and I or Tammy, return all calls to all messages we receive. I understand that this is a business of "here today, gone tommorrow", but we are here with the intentions to stay and be a BIG player in the business. Ernie, I don't want to turn this into an ad, but YES, I can beat some of their prices. The big question is their supply and availability. We all run out of stock periodically, but when you have as many breeders as we do, it seldom happens with us. I am not going to say our feeders are better the our competitors. I will say that I have yet to have a complaint about our quality or size. Also, I very seldom say we are out of stock. If a shortage occurs, it is usually short lived. Another question I am pondering. Would more herpers consider my feeders if I were fully automated, ie., shopping cart, online ordering, etc. Truth be known, if you get cryovac packing on styrofoam trays, you are probably buying from someone we or our parent company sells to. Thanks, Ricky |

Re: Inquiry by Snake Snacks
3487.html Posted At 02:06:18 05/21/2001 Here are a few things that are important to me when I buy rats. 1.) Size 2.) quality 3.) price 4.) vacuum sealed 5.) not having to buy more than I need for a two month period or spend $150 to get an order of more than what I will use before they go bad. I don't care if they are vacuum sealed or not, once you open a bag they start to get freezer burn. I have tried everything to prevent it short of buying my own vacuum sealer. I am not a big breeder/dealer. I have 12 boas and if I buy more than a two month supply I always wind up throwing a lot of them away because my boas won't eat them due to freezer burn. I need the larger 450gm-600gm because I have a couple very large boas and anything smaller just doesn't cut it. Sas Supply has been the only one that will sell me one or 101, live or dead and from some of the sites I've seen they are the cheapest and my boas haven't refused to eat their rats yet. I don't see wasting money. I'd rather spend it on buying more boas. Nuff said. Ernie |

3496.html Posted At 12:08:30 05/21/2001 I have purchased frozen mouse pinks from Ricky twice...1000 each time... they were vacuum packed in 25 & 50 counts which was fine for me..I was very happy with each order... they arrived professionally packed and were frozen solid after a 1400 mile journey..I would have no problem ordering from them again.. thanks Paul PMHerps - Captive Bred Reptiles |

3530.html Posted At 08:38:55 05/22/2001 Ricky, who is your parent company? I've bought from The Mouse Factory in the past and the rats were cryovaced on styrofoam trays. Were these originally yours? Like Ernie,I also buy from SAS Supply.I need a lot of big rats.I've weighed some of there "Colossals" and one tipped the scales at 560 grams!!! I can order any quantity and only have to pay $40.00 delivery charge (its there own delivery truck). If you have huge rats at a competitive price maybe we can talk business in the future. Matt |

3540.html Posted At 12:40:54 05/22/2001 First off, Thank You Paul for the good word. I appreciate your confidence and trust in us and our product. Matt, I going to have to plead the 5th on who our parent co. is. If I were to say, it could have a negative effect on both buyers and sellers. I honestly don't know if they sell to The Mouse Factory. Our parent is wholesale only with large accounts. They tried retail, but got too busy to effectively handle the phone, internet, shipping, customer service, etc. This is where my wife and I stepped in. We offered and were handed the retail/internet part of the business. Unfortunately, we have discontinued our monster rats. We have a much larger demand for jumbo rats. It cost too much to raise a monster rat then try to sell it at a competitive price. This also freed up several cages for more breeders and pregnants. This helped to increase our inventory of rats across the size range. Thanks for everyones input. Ricky |

3543.html Posted At 13:36:19 05/22/2001 Pleading the Fifth to my question seriously reduces any credibility you might have had with me up to now.Why would knowing who your parent company is have a possible negative effect on buyers or sellers ??? The only thing achieved by not revealing the parent company is the effect of not wanting the herping public to know the true source of your rodents.I wonder why? Is there something you really don't want us to know about where these rats come from? ReptileHunter |

Re: Inquiry by Snake Snacks
3562.html Posted At 21:35:36 05/22/2001 My,My!!! Don't we have suspicious minds. Let's just say that my feeders come from, possible the biggest, supplier/breeder in the US. He is located in the same town in Louisiana as we are and is my brother-in-law. His company is called La. Quail Farms. Many people in the herp business know his name, Carrol. If you check our web page, you would see that it clearly states, "family run business". I have absolutely nothing to hide from ya'll. If I were unscrupuless why would I come here to ask for comments? Why would I open myself and my business for scrunity? I really hope I haven't upset anyone. That's not my game. Reptile Hunter, if we have lost credibility with you, there is nothing I can say to you because you mind is probably already made up, about us. That's unfortunate for both of us. All I can tell the rest of the forum is this: My wife and I will try hard to give everyone the best feeder and the best value for your money. Thanks, Ricky Musso |

Re: Inquiry by Snake Snacks
3566.html Posted At 01:25:22 05/23/2001 I haven't mail ordered feeders as I am fortunate enough to have a breeder within driving distance. Not having to pay shipping and/or box charges keeps his prices below mailorder. However, in the event that he moved, ran out of mice, etc., these are things I would look for. I prefer vacuum packed over zip locked. Offer a broad range of sizes and ship mice that fall within that range. If a fuzzy is 3-6 grams, don't send me all barely 3 gram mice. Prompt shipment and payment by credit card is good. And most importantly to me - if you offer price breaks for quantity, don't make me buy 500 of each size to get the break. I am a hobbyist with 6 adult snakes of various sizes. I can get an order of 500 together but that's 500 total. I appreciate being able to combine sizes for the volume discount and probably won't order from someone who doesn't. |

3576.html Posted At 11:03:39 05/23/2001 Okay.La.Quail Farms is the source of your rats. Now why would that have a possible negative impact on anyone ? For your information, when I bought rats from the Mouse Factory, they came in a box that had some quail farm's address on it in La. ReptileHunter |

Re: Inquiry by Snake Snacks
3672.html Posted At 19:54:20 05/24/2001 Herpers, I didn't mean to sound sneaky and suspicious. The thing that concerns me is that the people the guail farm sell to, will get upset. I really don't want to get anyone upset with us. I also didn't want the quail farm to start getting phone calls again for retail sales. As much as they would like to sell to every phone call they get, it's impossible for them to service everyone. That's our business' job. Matt, if you ever need something that we can help you with please call us. We have discontinued our monster rats, so the largest we have is jumbos, which are probably too small for your needs. Thanks, Ricky Snake Snacks |
