First, let me put a note to the webmaster. On my other posting about Matt Hanlon I stated that I wasn't going to make other posts, but rather keep adding threads to that original post. Then I saw a message from you to someone stating that you could post again if the message was over 100 lines down. I hope I understood this right. Let me know if I didn't. To everyone who hasn't read my original posting let me give you the short version, and then PLEASE scroll down, and read the whole story. I won a snake from him (Matt Hanlon- WS Reptiles)at the first of December on herpauction. I immediatly sent him the money. A month and a half or so later he told me that the snake was dead, and now refuses to refund my money. I work too hard to just give my money away! I sent him the money in good faith, and he just kept it, and gave me nothing. If that's not a thief, nothing is! It has now been 5 1/2 months! Matt, I'm going to keep posting this whenever I'm allowed, at the webmasters discretion, and hopefully everyone will find out what a crook you are. PLEASE, everyone, scroll down, and read the whole story. Thanks for your time. Ken Casstevens |

3572.html Posted At 09:07:27 05/23/2001 Ken, Like you...I have been cheated by this guy Matt Hanlon. I had bid on and won a whites tree frog from Hanlon in January of this year, 2001.I got it for my daughter as a gift. Hanlon sent me a letter with his address to send him the money... with a request to give him GOOD feedback on the auction. Of course I didn't give him the feedback. I figured I would wait until the whites arrived and then if all was well...I would give him a good rating. Well...as time went on, I emailed him numerous times. He told me he lost my address. Finally he decided to send me the Whites after many weeks of waiting. The day came and no Frog. I contacted him and ask if he had sent it and when I heard back from him he said it was dead and offered me a snapping turtle to replace it. I told him I didn't want the turtle but prefered my money back. He said it was no problem and he would get the MO right out to me. It is now May 23rd and I am STILL waiting. I, Like Ken, am sick and tired of these kind of people. I haven't bid on anything since..I'm afraid to. He is still on there selling. BEWARE folks. This man has cheated me and others. You may be the next if you win any of his auctions. Elizabeth Mills- Renner |

3575.html Posted At 10:44:22 05/23/2001 Ok this is simple......Pay by credit card or Paypal. If you do not get anything, you file a dispute and the other party has to prove you did get the item with a valid tracking number and so on. Sending a money order to a person you do not know is crazy. If you still are going to pay with a money order send it registered so you get a signature showing it was received and then file a fraud complaint with the USPS. |

3600.html Posted At 19:16:51 05/23/2001 Jack, Thanks for the tip on sending a registered money order. That's exactly what I should have done, but that doesn't change the fact that he will not give my money back for a snake that he never sent. I shouldn't have to explain this because how I sent the money to him is not the issue I'm trying to bring to everyones attention here, but because you brought it up, here goes. I have had problems with Paypal before, and I don't trust giving anyone my credit card info on the net because I've been ripped off like that before. So I believed the safest way was just to send a money order. I've had no problems with that in the past until now. From now on I will send a reg. money order, but the issue of this post is simply this-Matt Hanlon received my money, told me the snake was dead, and will not give me my money back. In my opinion that's a crook. |

3614.html Posted At 22:01:55 05/23/2001 I have also purchased a snake from Matt Hanlon. There has never been a dispute on ( if he got the money or not ) He got the money. The fact is I purchased a Yellow Anaconda from him . it took several mounths for him to ship the snake . I finaly recieved the snake 1 day after he got around to shipping it . It was not only dead but the flesh of the snake was rotting off the bones , ( it had been dead for a long time by the time I recieved it ). He told me sorry for your lose , then stopped returning e-mail. This is a very very dishonest buisnessman ( He should not be aloud to touch snakes , never mind selling them ) |

3654.html Posted At 16:40:19 05/24/2001 Did you all post negs for him on herpauction? I sure hope so because I use this as a guide when buying and selling. I tried to look up his rating using that e-mail addy and it came back as not registered! What is his handle? |

3701.html Posted At 04:11:51 05/25/2001 I haven't dealt with the guy mentioned above and I never will from these posts, but my point is about the herpauction. It is an excellent place to buy and sell reptiles, but we all have to do our part. If you get screwed then post something on them at herpauction so others don't fall prey. My problem has been winners that don't follow through. I have used herpauction with good and bad results. I have an account at paypal too with never a problem. I think herpauction should start accepting payments through their own merchant account or paypal and start charging a 10%-50% (of the animals worth) deposit to place a bid or sell. If the buyer backs out the seller gets the funds. If the seller doesn't ship then the buyer gets the funds. I think if they hold the payment for 3 days or so will be sufficient. I think it will keep people honest. I don't see the big deal with the deposit. If you can't afford it then you shouldn't be dealing animals as you can't provide the care they may need and if you're buying, it shouldn't be a problem as you are going to spend the money anyway. There are honest people at herpauction. If the webmaster there would start weeding out the bad people it would be a much better place. If someone gets 3-5 proven bad posts then they need to be dropped. I know they can always give false info, but not if they have to give a credit card number. |

3702.html Posted At 04:16:47 05/25/2001 Yes, Marcia, I have posted several negative comments on the herpauction ratings for Matt. For some reason it's now telling me, also, that it's not registered, but then if you find an animal that he is selling you can scroll down to where it says "enter comments for WSReptiles", and access his ratings from there. The last thing I've seen him post was a Nile monitor that has already been won. You can find it by going under "winners". Also, when you get there, you will see where the auctioneer posted a positive icon for Matt, and told me that any more postings by the same poeple would be deleted. I couldn't believe it. It seems that they would be happy for someone to get the word out about a crooked seller, but I guess they thought I went overboard. I did post about 4 or 5 negative comments, but what else can you do when the guy won't even return emails anymore. This guy is really bad news! |

3743.html Posted At 08:17:35 05/26/2001 Matt, I know you've read my posts, and all the other posts that have stated that you have screwed them. Now we are all waiting on your responce. It would not be fair if we didn't give you a chance to explain all the non-refunded money, and all the dead snakes so come on Matt, lets hear it. You out there? Cat got your tongue? We're waiting Matt. |

3914.html Posted At 16:53:32 05/30/2001 While I haven't bought anything from this guy..he did win a group of geckos from me on Herpauction. Waited a week and then backed out of the deal. Needless to say I wasn't too terribly happy about it. |
