Reptronics (Bad Guy?)

It would make sense that every interstate animal deal I have conducted has gone great but now I get screwed on dry goods. Made a purchase (actually it was made by my sister) for heat pads, heat tape, and the accessories that go with the tape. The credit card got charged on the last day of May but the package doesn't arrive until early July. After repeated phone calls and e-mails, which grew less polite by the day, I talked to a woman (name?) and she said that her fiancee was in the hospital and she could not ship anything. Funny thing is I work in a family business in which we ship things out daily. For a nomial fee UPS, Fed Ex, and other shiping companies will come daily to your PLACE OF BUSINESS to pick up items. Anyways, the package finally arrived but it was 8 insulators short (I paid for 8 sets not 8 individual pieces). I have tried every concievable way to get ahold of these people so they could complete my order but no luck. There might be new medical problems for the owner but I know he is not the only one at the store. If you own a business you have a responsibility to your customers to get their order right! There must be at least 2 seconds in someone's busy day over at Reptronics to call or e-mail (it's free). Caring for a loved ones health is not a crime, but ripping my a$$ off is!

Phil,
I know EXACTLY how you feel, I went thru this same crap about 3 years ago. I had to contact my credit card to get my money back and I finnaly did. Apparently the guy at reptronix was in a bad accident back them which I can tottally understand and I felt bad afterwards for being such an ass about $70. But the more I think about it.. if someone sends you money for something, fill the damn order period! The general public doesn't give 2 Sh$ts what your personal problems are and I see a lot of that going on lately. It's a shame but a lot of people in this line of work are just not proffesional.. you got your x cons, your drug addicts and so forth.. i'm pretty tired of it myself.
As far as Reptronics goes... give the guy a break, he really is a good guy... hell, what does he owe you? I will send it to you to help him out in hard times. Seriously, e-mail me your info and what you are missing and I will replace it or refund your money for you as a favor to the guy.

Phil,
Her name is Ruth, Mark was in a terrible crash a few years ago and almost lost his life. I personally saw him when he was in the hospital and have never seen a sorrier sight. Here recently I know Mark has been having health problems from that accident, and he is in and out of the hospital as Ruth says. Personally before you get really upset, I would give it some time and get Mark on the phone. Mark I'm sure will take care of your problems. When you talk to Ruth ask her when Mark will be around, because to be honest with you, she doesn't know how to run the business and they are the only two there. Give it time and get ahold of Mark. I trust that he will make good on your problems.

First off, thank you John for offering to fill the void in my order. If Mark is in the hospital than ship delays are certainly understandable but a reply from Ruth would be nice. I understand the problems that a person faces when a small company has a mishap and the workload gets dumped on one person but professional courtesy dictates that your customers should be told of delays. The outstanding balance is only $8.00 but I wanted to put my rack together with all the stock pieces. Oh well I will quit whining and just sit tight and hope my order is completed. Thanks all

I had a bad experience with Mr. Seymour also. I had purchased 4 of the 3 ft vision cages from him, and he delivered them to my door. Sounds good so far, right? We brought the cages into the living room, and he installed the glass in one of them so I could inspect it. All seemd well, and I paid him in full, thanked him for the delivery, and wished him a safe trip home. I bought these cages in anticipation of purchasing animals a few months down the road, and therefore did not set them up immediately. The glass for the remaining cages was foam wrapped, and I placed the cages and unwrapped glass into storage. About 4 months later, I unpacked the glass for the remaining 3 cages, and much to my dismay, the glass was the wrong size for this cage, being way too short to fit. I notified Mark of the mistake, and he immediately tried to place blame on the manufacturer, claiming that they mislabeled the glass, and that I was not the only customer who had this problem. If this is true, then why didn't he inspect all of the glass before making delivery to anyone else when he discovered this? In any event, Mark agreed to send me replacement glass at no charge to me, and I thanked him and awaited the delivery. Weeks started to go by, and still no glass, and no answer to numerous messages left on his answering machine. Finally, After more than 8 months, Mark answered his phone, and I confronted him in a polite way, wanting to know why he had not shipped my replacement glass yet. He told me that he had been very sick, and I accepted his explanation. He then promised to hand deliver the glass to me, saying that he would place it inside my front porch one day the following week. Well, that week came and went, and still no glass. After another 2 months (we are up to almost 1 year of waiting at this point), he FINALLY shipped the replacement glass. It was so poorly packaged, that three of the six panes were broken. The next time he was at the White Plains show in New York, I went up to him and explained that half of the glass panes he sent were broke, and he refused to do anything further for me, unless I wanted to PURCHASE replacements. Needless to say, I turned down his kind offer. To date, I still have 2 brand new, unused 3 ft vision cages. I will not be doing anymore business with him again.

---------------------UPDATE-----------------------
Mark phoned me today and said he would ship out the 8 insulators. I would like to publicly thank him for fulfilling my order. The stars and moons have aligned and everything's coming up roses.

This theme with Mark is old and repetative--get the picture. I have heard stories from other ex-customers ranging from the car wreck to drug problems. I am not making accusations her as to his personal life, but bottom line is he is slow to deliver or does not deliver at all. I gave him a second chance after my father ordered from him for X-mas gifts from me. He did not deliver after a very long drawn out phone ordeal and finally dad cancelled the order. I heard that he had fallen on bad times so I gave it time and ordered from him and started getting the run around myself. (note that I had ordered successfully in past and like his products and prices, this story covers years). His fiance or girlfriend or whatever even told me at one point that he was at his councelor as an excuse to not being able to answer my calls and inquiries as to where my shipment was. Anyway, whatever the personal reasons are for him not delivering goods in a timely fashion,or not at all, if you are not healthy enough to do business, then don't...period. Im sorry if this offends anyone, especially Mark, but this hobby is getting ridiculous on the live animal side I hate to see the dry goods go down the tubes with it.

This is the same old story everytime. If hes so sick maybe he should get out of the business. I ordered 50 feet of 4" heat tape and and clips. They accepted the order charged my credit card $90 something it was over a year ago so I forgot the exact amount. I received no oreder. I called, emailed and waited. Finaly I got the woman on the phone early one saturday morning and questiones her. I was given the same sob story of health reasons being the delay. Notice there was no delay in chargeing my credit card though. I waited again for a promised delivery day and still it came and went with no delivery. I called on the phone again and spoke to the same woman again. I demanded a credit be placed to my credit card. She was not very friendly and was actualy angry with me. Hey, I didn't make a website and take orders for product they did and then when they can't deliver you are going to get shitty with me. I finally got the amount credited to my card but never again will i place an order with such people as them. They need to either commit to their customers or close their website and get out of the business. Good luck to anyone that tries to buy from them.
