Last year I purchased 1.2 Tangerine Leopard geckos from Rainwater. I paid $300 ea. for them. I was told that they could easily turn out to be $500 animals. They appeared to be normal high yellows but I was assured that they would develop the Tangerine color. Once they reached an age that I could tell the sex myself I ID'd them as all male. When I e-mailed him with this info he told me that he would have to see them to verify that and he also claimed he would not temp sex agian. I e-mailed him back to set something up and I never got a reply. I made more than half a dozen attempts to get some satisfaction with no reply, ever! Since that time all 3 animals have developed some type of bone disease. I raised others on the same food and suppliment and had no trouble with them. They are also less Tangerine than the high yellows I bought elsewhere. I resolved to take my losses and never do business there agian. That is just my experience, I've heard similar stories from others. Maybe they will tell their stories hear also. |

Posted At 21:53:02 10/05/2000 Thank you for the warning. I had been considering purchasing some cornsnakes from him to vary my bloodlines (I can't have ALL SerpenCo corns). Guess I'll really consider Kathy Love's or go back to Rich (I don't really have ALL SerpenCo, just the more "exotic" cultivars are his.) |

Posted At 22:23:22 10/05/2000 You can really tell the Good Guys from the Bad Guys when a situation occurs. The good guys will make it right and the bad guys will avoid you at all costs. |

Posted At 23:22:44 10/08/2000 I have purchased from Tim Rainwater and have visited his facility in Nevada. He is more than willing to show you around and take care of your herp needs. I have always found him and his staff curtious and pleasant. I would do business with him in a heartbeat. I do know that if you are not curtious as he is to you...He will not be as helpful. J.D |

Posted At 08:45:18 10/09/2000 I have never been anything but curtious. The man sold me $900 worth of misrepresented animals and did not even attempt to make it right. I guess as long as he can keep his bigger accounts it won't matter that he lost me as a customer! |

Posted At 07:02:38 10/10/2000 I'm glad your experience was favorable. But as I described, I tried to talk to him (very politly) and got nowhere. And and in "my opinion" his customer service is non-existant. Which to me indicates very poor business practices. |

Posted At 08:47:37 10/29/2000 ide like to start off by saying there was another "black list" once where i posted by bad experiance with tim and his staff there was an overwelming response by people who were very unsatisfied with him and his staff. this is a long story and it really makes me sick to relive the details so im gonna make it short and not so sweet. my girl friend ordered and pre-paid for a pair of sunglow motley corns. a few months later she was in vegas and visted the facility where she found tim and and his store amazing so she ordered 1.1 lav.albino kings, and 1.1 alterna phase greybands. the alterna phase where to have no red. like gerald and cindy merker have. tim didnt produce the alterna i asked for so we waited months for the for all of the snakes to avoid extra shipping cost. tim had to get the alterna and the lav kings from another breeder to complete my order finally the snakes were shipped to me when they arrive the male sunglow motley corn had a kink in his spine the alternas were speckled in red and mite infested. when i called tim told me the alterna didnt have mites and that alterna phase with no red didnt exsist, and i never told him thats what i wanted. well then why did i wait so long for them? he told me i would have to pay return shipping on his mistake and that i would have to pay shipping on another male sunglow motley corn. it took months of calling and harassing to finally get some results!! i was givin cerdit on my purchase. when the snakes i orderd with my credit arrived the deli cup wus crushed and the snake was escaped in the shipping box. the outside of the box was in perfect shape. i know i said i would keep it short belive it or not that is the short version. buy locally if you can because when your at his place he nice but when your thousand of miles away he could give a rats ass about ya! good luck its a shame but youll need it.....kirk |

Posted At 13:37:03 03/19/2001 I've lived in Vegas for over a year and in that time Rainwater has moved twice, and now has no facilities that I know of other than opperating out of the house (found out about it while conversing with one of the employees one day.) That might be a starting point for anyone wishing to recoup losses. |

Re: Rainwater Reptiles.....Bad Guy
2484.html Posted At 13:56:53 04/11/2001 I have a friend who used to be a partner with Tim. He had only invested in the business & was not involved in the day to day operations. One day I went to the store after hours with my friend & he was showing me around. When we went into the back part of the store (the part that was a warehouse) we found that many of the reptiles had no water or food & their cages looked as if they had not been cleaned in a couple of weeks. Many of the Leopard Gecko's were actuall starving. My friend was so upset & Tim was not there so we started cleaning the cages & feeding & watering. The cages where he kept the rats was awful!! I felt so bad for those things, the filth they were living in was horrible. They also had no food or water. A short time after this incident my friend started checking up on things at the store only to find that this was how things were most of the time. My friend is now suing him to get back the money he has invested in the store (some where between $50,000 & $80,000 total) |
