I received snakes that weren't what they were supposed to be. They were all starving and one even attacked my daughter. I need to know what to do. I tried to contact the guy I bought them from, but he has never responded. What do I do? |

6352.html Posted At 10:06:14 07/26/2001 Well, I have a few questions. 1) Is it underweight and if so did he tell you? If he did not and made it sound like it was perfectly healthy you might have a gripe. EVEN if it is underweight and he did not tell you, that does not mean it will be a bad snake to have. I have bought underweight snakes before and they turned out to be wonderful. As far as the part with your daughter. I am sure that could be a sensative subject, but Geneva, that really has nothing to do with who you got it from. There could be MANY reasons it did that. It could be scared, hungry, not used to being handled, etc. You really cannot blame that on the person you got it from. Nobody ever said snakes were like having a hamster as a pet. I understand your concern. I too have a child, but I also know the limits as to what my son can and cannot do with the snakes in my collection. What kind of snake is it? How old is your daughter? I have been bit 100s of times and I can say that every single one could have been avoided. it is not the snakes fault it bites. That is what snakes do. We cannot teach them otherwise, just hope that they get used to their owner. Best of luck with the snake, Brian Oakley PS I hope your daughter is ok! |

6359.html Posted At 12:31:50 07/26/2001 Thank you Mr. Oakly for your information. The snakes are starting to bulk up now and looking better. I know that it isn't the fault of the snake, Eric Winther just should have told me he hadn't fed them for the last how many months it was. Abby (my daughter) is 6 and she has been handling a lot larger snake than the one that bit her. Thank goodness she is not scared of snakes now. To make it short, I just felt sorry for the snakes. They should have been taken better care of, that's all. Geneva |

6360.html Posted At 12:47:07 07/26/2001 Geneva, MOST IMPORTANTLY, I am glad your daughter is ok.' Secondly, and I am not telling you how to raise your child, but my son has been around snakes since....well I have had them for 15 years and he is 9. Point is, I WILL NOT let my son hold a snake that is new to my collection. I do not know how that snake will react or anything. If it is going to bite, it can bite me...not him. Yes, I too have let my son hold large snakes. This is the same snake that used to crawl on the floor right along my Chinese Pug (dog). Yes that is an exception to the "norm", but just a quick story. Good luck, Brian |

6405.html Posted At 22:56:10 07/26/2001 why would you let your 6 year old daughter around a snake you just got the day before. you should not even trust her around a new puppy much less new snake!!!!! |

6451.html Posted At 01:04:33 07/28/2001 Guys this is not a Parenting class relax! She wanted to know what she should do about the mix up of snakes not the best fathers in the world opinion board! I would try to find this person and make sure that something is done to ensure they dont do this again. Dont listen to dips in the road just avoid them if you know what i mean. (by the way my wife is named Geneva!) |
