I was walking around the Park Meadows mall in Denver, and just thought I'd take a look in their petstore to see what sort of reptiles they had. One of the first things I noticed about the store is that they didn't even really sell supplies, just the pets themselves. Almost every pet there was a dog or cat, though there were a few cages with mice and a few with reptiles. The state of the reptile cages was appalling, though. For one example, they had a couple of baby bearded dragons in the same cage with a few leopard geckoes. I honestly don't know enough about these lizards to know if they can share a habitat, however what shocked me was that there was a dead baby bearded dragon just lying there on the floor of the cage, in plain sight. The guy had obviously starved to death as its belly was completely sunken in. There were more indications of cruelty to reptiles, but this was the one that really caught my attention. Don't buy from these guys.

I know no one wants to get a bad deal on buying ill treated animals, but my wife bought my iguana from a pet store that had about 50 in a 30 gallon tank, they were puny and they were feeding them nothing but cole slaw.. after reprimanding the staff on what they should be fed and explained to them to take one of the cuddle bones they sell for birds and to shave it on top of the other recommended fresh veggies, she had recommended to them and in which one sales girl immeaditly made a short trip to the store to buy. And explained the importance of the lighting they needed, She decided to try to help at least one. and paid 20.00 for her. I was alittle put out with her for it, but her loving heart is why I love her so much and why I married her. "Carmen" is now about 3 feet long and doing well.. I know its bad for someone inexperienced to buy these animals that have been malnurished but for the experienced sometimes maybe the good hearted thing to do is to inform the store of the proper care, and spend a little money to try and save at least one of these little animals. Just keep it quarntined until you know that it is healthy,, It may never make you money probably cost you a little.. but at least you have had the heart to take at least one of them out of a hell hole and try to give it some comfort an happiness. I have been enjoying Carmen for over a year now, and we go into the pet store periodically and their reptiles are healthy and properly cared for, They have our number and call for advice and things are good for them and the critters now..
So dont just give the store a bad post, call and tell them. For the animals sake call them. The store may not be aware of the proper care the animals need.. If it doesnt improve report them. Think of the animals, they cant speak for themselves.
Sincerly Mike
