9636.html Posted At 18:58:51 10/01/2001 Sorry, but I just don't keep notes on all the messages I delete, and I don't recall which ones you (Doug Seal) are referring to. I recently deleted a bunch of posts in the Herps Wanted that were advertising animals for sale or for trade, and I also deleted a bunch of messages from the Herps For Sale forum that were for herps wanted to buy or trade. If I deleted your message, trust me, you DID violate one rule or another. I have long ago given up taking the time to email each and every person that does so to point out the error to them. This board is *free* but it does have an implicit cost in that YOU have to take the time to make sure you are posting within the guidelines. I have no axes to grind with anyone, and no one will get preferential treatment. Even posts made by Mrs. Zuchowski's little boy, Richard, are required to follow the rules just like everyone else's. Of course, with that said, this entire thread is likely to be deleted real soon anyway. I'm letting it ride for a short while just to see if there are any gripes out there that might not be mentioned otherwise. I do appreciate the pat on the back every once in a while, but these sorts of threads invariable allow the loonies out of their bins. Now what I want to know is how come so many of these loonies have AOL accounts? |

9643.html Posted At 21:36:12 10/01/2001 I don't think it's brown-nosing to offer a thank-you to someone who is putting his own money and free time into something that benefits those of us who share the same interest in herps. Even the "loonies" must get something good out of it, because they keep coming back to see what's going on. It sometimes seems like a free-for-all gets going on some of these threads. But a lot of potential rip-off deals have been made good on just because of their exposure on here, and a lot of just plain old misunderstandings and miscommunications have been cleared up. I know I've discovered a few people I won't EVER buy from, or SELL TO. We get so much from this site, I don't think a little appreciation for it is brown-nosing, Mr. "Shut Up". |

(Talk about your left-handed complements?) This has GOT TO BE one of the most VALUABLE sites on the "net", if you're in the "herp" field! Just to HAVE a forum where you can see "professional" herpers being themselves in sticky situations!! It really gives you a real perspective on who to deal with, and who NOT TO!! I commend you on the work involved, and your steadfastedness NOT to charge for this site...and AGAIN I think you're NUTS!! I would be GLAD to pay a nominal fee (say $20 per year) for this site to stay the way it is....it would certainly weed out the "kids", well, that's unless they can save up that much allowance?? lol Seriously, though, I (personally) would have NO PROBLEM in that! As previously mentioned, there is no doubt that this site was directly responsible for salvaging deals and saving countless others from losing money by dealing with questionable people. It's really not all that tough now that most of the people realize I am serious about enforcing the rules and am not shy about deleting their messages. And I haven't been threatened with a lawsuit in, oh, I guess it's been about three weeks now. John Albrecht - no, you read it wrong. The Mrs. Zuchowski mentioned in my other post is about 68 years old. You figure it out from there......... I don't believe Connie has ever said anything long that line. She likes other peoples kids (well, some of them), but I don't think she's ever been keen on raising a clutch of them herself. Anyway, I want you all to keep an eye out for an announcement in a day or three. Doing some changes behind the scenes here. I had some nice people offer to help me out with this site, and I think you will all like the changes in store for it. One issue about this thing sucking the green stuff out of my wallet will hopefully be eliminated by their help as well as our offering advertising on this site. Hopefully that will take up the slack instead of having to charge a registration fee. So anyone thinking about getting advertising on a high traffic site like this will certainly be helping me out of a financial bind. Oh, did I mention that I might be quitting my day job? I just can't handle all of the workload any longer...... There might be some rough edges at the transition, so bear with us if things go awry for a while. Murphy's Law reigns supreme! Thanks. |

Someone mistakenly posted a good guy message about sunbaked serpents on that forum. The reply to their mistake was not a nice one and the person responsible for this is using the name "WEB SLAVE". Looks like someone is trying to make the REAL SLAVE look bad. Hate to tell them but it's going to take a hell of a lot more than that to stain Rich's rep. A quick note to whoever this was...ok kid, time to take your fingers off the keyboard and go back to picking your nose! The REAL SLAVE is the best! Thanks for this board and all you do for us Rich. ps...hypo bloods doing great and crimson is calming down. :o) |
