I am looking at making a purchase but the person I am looking at purchasing from doesn't have references. It is a very good deal so I want to make sure I am covered. What protection does sending a postal money order give me if the deal goes bad etc...?

Not much protection at all. They can go to their local post office and cash the money order - it doesn't even have to go through their bank. I would only send a money order (of any kind) to somebody I trust.

If the deal seems almost too good to be true, I would be ESPECIALLY wary of sending a money order, especially if they can't provide references that can be verified.

Thank you Kathy, for some reason I had thought you had more protection with them because of mail fraud or some other felony that they are more willing to pursue than the usual getting screwed. i avoided the deal and believe it was the old too good to be true.
