Bought this boy from Tinley in 09 from Pete Kahl. He has taken on an axanthic look and he looks wicked. I have been told he will go back to the "normal" but I kind of hope he stays this way! Any opinions on him?

Why did you change the picture to black and white? ;) That is one awesome looking snake! It will be interesting to see what he produces!

Thanks for the comments. I dont think he is going to reproduce this but it would be awesome if he did. He took on this color at about 400 grams. Before that he was just a really nice bee. . I have been told this sometimes happens where they lose the melanin in the skin but it usually goes back in a few sheds. He has shed quite a few times and it gets more pronunced. He is a darker black in person than in his pictures.
Chamgirl: The first time I posted his picture anywhere I was accused of photoshopping it!
Him when he was "normal"

That is just one awesome snake.. It would be neat if he did stay that color although the "normal" picture is quite impressive as well.. Either way You have one awesome animal there :)

WOW,

That is an incredible bee, if he's not axanthic thats exactly what I would want my axanthics to look like for sure! Keep us posted on the outcome if you do end up breeding him this season and good luck with him.

Jeff,

I will definitely keep the post updated. I do have some plans for him this year so we will see what happens. I dont think its gonna be anything genetic but if it is and it works like it did with him I wont know till the babies hit about 400 grams maybe.
Thanks again for the comments

Another thing I found different about him was that he had the usual green pastel eyes and now his eyes are dark black as well!

Whatever happened or is in this Bumble Bee looks to be going on with this Killer Bee too.:shrug01:

Don't get me wrong, they are both amazing...I'm just confused.

I love Axanthics, and this guy is awesome looking! I think he will keep his color because if he's adult already, then there's little chance of color change. That's unless you get him obese. :-p

This is not the same animal, and this thread is 2yrs old.:shrug01:I was not searching the archives looking for a two year old thread to drag up.
The link to this thread was recently posted in a thread on another forum.
I imagine it will get some traffic, since that is how I found it, and figured I would ask if anyone had an update on what happened with this animal.

I thought maybe the thread starter would still be subscribed to his thread and get an email notification that someone had posted here.
I am curious if this animal ever got his color back, got more extreme, or stayed the same, and would love to see an updated photo of him.

I too would be interested in an update. I was speaking specifically to radera5 about her "discovery".

Kelly I know it's not the same animal lol. That's why I posted it, because Robert asked for an update and I happened to see the picture I posted in a for sale ad. They clearly look like they have the same thing going on, so I posted the pic here on this discussion. Then I took the other pics from a discussion on another forum because they also, look like they have something similar happening.

That's the same thing I was doing. We probably saw the same thread.

and Kelly, I never claimed to have a "discovery". I was merely pointing out a few animals that all have something odd going on.

I certainly was never saying that any of them were the same. Read my first post again with the Killer Bee pics from an ad here on Fauna:thumbsup:

Hey suprised to see this thread brought up again. The bee still looks the same. He never regained any color. I just hatched a clutch from him a few weeks ago. I should have some more eggs coming from him. Nothing appears out of the ordinary with the babies. I got a killer bee from him that is really nice. My computer is broke right now but ill try to post a new pic soon.
