Well, I'd been doing a few pairings throughout October, but both my spider male and pastel male were being lazy boys. :p I'd put each of them to a (different) big 3,000+ gram normal female, but no luck. So last weekend, I paired the pastel with his big normal girl again to no avail--he's still being lazy; my orange hypo female had finally topped 1500 grams, and is still feeding ferociously on medium rats, so I figured I'd try out the spider with her. It took him a few days, but he did finally lock up with her! http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/dd83/PythonPassion/Forum%20Stuff/WooHoo.gif

Needless to say, I was pretty excited about that pairing. The spider is not a het, but this is step one of my honeybee project. Obviously, this will be the hypo's first clutch, so I don't expect a huge pile of eggs, but if I could just get a male spider het hypo I'd be happy. ;)

Here's my other pairing that hasn't gone so well yet--they want to just be "friends" for now. :p But it's still early in the season, so I'm not panicking just yet. ;)

(Btw, it's not that the pastel is that tiny--he's actually around 1300 grams. The normal girl still dwarfs him, though. LOL At last weighing a few weeks back, she was around 3100 grams.)

Thanks much! I'm glad the spider decided to not be lazy with the ghost, even if he was lazy with the normal. :p

Thanks much! I just bought him a few months ago, and his color was one of the major factors in my purchase. Most people's first morph is a pastel, but it was one of my last ones. LOL I knew I was going to be picky about the one I chose, and it would have to be an adult so I could see how well it held its color; the local ones here are pretty run-of the mill, so I knew the one I got would be coming from elsewhere. When I saw this guy's pic, he was in shed, but even so he was really bright. I drove out to meet the guy (I am in east Tennessee; the guy I bought him from was in southwestern Kentucky) and of course he was still in shed but still looked great. I brought him home, and he shed a few days later. I was thrilled with my purchase--his color was awesome after the shed! He seems to be retaining his color well, and I hope he continues to do so. Hopefully, he will also pass those genes to his offspring to make some very nice, bright babies; the female I'm pairing him with is my lightest-colored normal and she has a very clean pattern.

good luck and just keep on trying he'll wake up and smell the coffee sooner or later.

Thanks! I think he is beginning to figure it out. This weekend he is laying with his tail against the female's side, though he is way too far up (he's about halfway down her body, no where near her vent LOL), but maybe he's at least making progress. My spider had a few similar tries last year before he locked up the first time, too. ;) He was an unproven breeder when I bought him--he was the second pastel male the breeder had and he had not used this male for breeding. But it's still early in the season, so he's got plenty of time to figure everything out. :)

I believe the male pastel is indeed trying to figure it out. ;) Here's a few pics I took today:

He seems to be getting closer, but still hasn't quite figured it all out yet. As of now, he has still not yet locked, but hopefully he will in the very near future. ;)

LOL Thanks much! It's so funny sometimes watching them figure it out. My spider did so many similar things last year when I was trying to breed him for the first time. I swear there was one point last year when my big normal girl looked at me as if to say "Get this dang teenager off of me and give me a man!" She even went as far one point as to jerk herself away from him and hiss. In my own experience, that female tends to hiss when she's had enough, and I do believe she'd had enough. ;) Eventually though, the spider did figure it out (that female produced 7 eggs, four of which were spiders), and the pastel should too in the next few weeks. ;)
