Hey everyone just want to tell ya'll about a bad customer I had, localy in Gainesville, FL. Now let me state the facts, I'm not here to bash anyone. This happened in Nov. 2001 I promised this kid a pair of 4-5ft. boa and I also gave him a rosy boa w/set-up for $220. now I stated that the female won't be in till friday. and  I deliever the rest of the animal on monday and money was exchanged. I also told him that I would want to hold the female boa for couple days to check for parasites and to see if she is feeding. now I got the boa in on friday, but I had to go to orlando on friday and was gone all weekend and I called and told him the boas came in. now I have not get the boa to eat right away because I figure I give it time to acclimate then feed her. Well the kid come trumping on my door asking for the female I told him that she wasn't ready but he wanted her anyways so I was like here you go.....about 25 minutes later he comes back  and told me the boa was a male (this might be mistake on my part by not checking the boa first, but I don't have a probe and i didn't know how to sex them back then) he said his friend probe it for him. so I was like okay let me go and e mail the person that I got the boa from I'm pretty sure it was a mix up, but this kid DEMANDED that he takes a female boa home tonight. well at the time I had a hold back breeder (which I think he set his eyes on it and planne dthis little drama), and a Central female boa. I told him he can wait couple days and get this whole thing straighten out, but he does not want that he wants a female boa NOW.. and he wants the breeder. so for the sake of getting his butt out of my apartment I gave him the boa...and I have decided to not to deal with him anymore..even though he wants ball pythons from me (which he later got froma  friend of mine but the friend over charged him  for the ball python) and my friend think he was a pushy customer too.......

anyone of ya'll have experience what I have?
if so tell me what I should do next time...
What do you do with bad customers?<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>?<img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

PITA Tax

Charge the kid double for any dealings with him. You are in the control seat in that you have animals he wants.

Winston....There were LOADS of things you could have done BEFORE you let this slug get away with your Female...but, unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it now! You did the only thing you could...you let us know! Thanks....Neil

This subject came up in the previous BOI a while back.

Problem customers are fair game here. &nbsp;Generally, it's a pretty safe bet that a problem customer will often become a problem breeder or dealer if their purchases bear fruit and they start selling the offspring to someone else.

BTW, the previous BOI is now online off of the main page. &nbsp;Danni set this up earlier today for me. &nbsp;I still need to get the banner ads displaying on it, but at least it is functional.

Previous BOI (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/boi)

Bear in mind that this is a read only board, but there is a search function at the top of the page that will make finding things much easier to accomplish.

I still have the original BOI archived on my hard drive, that I hope to put back online sometime in the near future as well.

Well I just let ya'll know his name is Jo Jo, I know it sounds like some gigalo name, but he is as you said trying to breed &nbsp;and sell. so it is Jo Jo from Gainesville, FL. &nbsp; As I said after teh purchase of the boa he was still trying to buy stuff from me and I just turned him away. I realize the mistake I made and I don't think he'll be a good reptile breeder or person. that is just my opion. I don't think he knows about BOI either so............He can't really defend himself. I'll leave it at that

Thanx

This post may be one that is deemed as going too far and will probably be deleted. However, in this case, I feel like it is appropriate for the topic at hand.

Winston,
It sounds to me like a b1+ch slap was in order. Being only a collector, not a dealer or breeder, I have always stood on the side of the buyer. That dealers need to be held to the highest of standards. In light of recent read posts and some deep thought, I have somewhat changed my views. I still feel the same about dealers. Although I now feel that us as customers need to be held to the same standards. In order to ensure a happy transaction, it does need to be a two-way street. After all, though they strive to satisfy us, I doubt dealers should run their lives or their businesses around us. A happy medium should always be strived for.

JoJo,
Care to join me out back in the woodshed?

Winston,
The answer you seek is it was directed to your customer. Read the last line of my post.

Winston,

unfortunately, we can't always scope out the bad customers. &nbsp;If we COULD, &nbsp;I wouldn't have a buyer ticked off and demanding a refund because a gecko bit him. lol &nbsp;Sometimes we can tell off the bat that it will be a bad experience for us as dealers, but usually, this is only in on the phone or in person instances. &nbsp;You can't always tell so well on the internet, or even on the phone sometimes. &nbsp;
Personally, in your instance, I would have kept that female boa of yours and told the guy to either wait, or give him his money back and send him packing. &nbsp;Noone should cause a scene in your home, and you definitely should never have to give up a personal animal that you were going to breed to get this monkey off your back. &nbsp; But it didn't work out that way for you unfortunately. &nbsp; You got rid of that jerky, and that is what matters.
But from my POV, if someone was making that much ruckus at MY home, he would be going home with more thanhis money back...like my boot, sideways in his candy A.........

Couldn't have said it better Rob! Pushy customers on the phone are one thing, but if some "kid" comes to YOUR house demanding this or that he should've been told where to go. I understand that he might have been upset the he received an improperly sexed snake, but do you have any proof that he's telling the truth? His "friend" might not know what the hell he's doing. Anyway, if I'm buying a snake from someone, and he tells me that he wants to wait until he knows the snake is healthy before the purchase is complete I would not only wait for the snake, but I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. There are too many people selling unhealthy snakes in this business to take any chances. At least he's gone now, and you don't have to do business with him again. I've received incorrectly sexed snakes before, but receiving a sick snake that could infect your whole collection is another deal entirely. You were doing the right thing, and he should've seen that.

I mean as my "business" name states it is Premium Herps. I only get the best quality stuff for my customers. If there is a snake that I am unsure of I would not sell him at all. Even healthy captive bred/born animals I would not sell unless I have seen them shed, fed, and pooped. I take personal pride in my animals as I handle them regularly so that they are tame and a child could handle them (right now there is an excepetion to that as I'm working with an Emerald tree boa)
but, yeah next time I'm just gonna kick the person out. hopefuly there won't be a next time.

Thanx

Winston
