1700 g Mojave striking and missing food

Hello,
I recently got a Mojave from a friend and he claims it was eating f/t. I have had the animal 2 weeks and have had no luck waiting f/t or live. He strikes and misses. Any suggestions?

Sounds like he's striking defensively. If you just got him two weeks ago he might still be stressed out. Wait a week between offering food each time, a snake that size can go a while without eating.
