Well, since I didn't think it was in good taste to post my thoughts on what was going on in that thread (didn't stop some) I thought I would move the discussion here because I think it is extremely interesting, and entertaining.

It sounds like Joe is going to get his money back, good for him. I am neither a ball breeder, nor a "big guy" in the reptile business, so hopefully this post will enable you that are to glean some bit of insight from my post.

I think Joe Capone is an ass. HOWEVER, he is the most successful breeder of ball pythons in the world, so for that he gets his credit. Donald Trump is, in my opinion an ass also, but I envy the fact that he can make lemonade from lemons, and squeeze a few bucks out at the same time. That's why I watch his show. Just because someone's attitude or personality doesn't jive with yours doesn't mean you need to be their friend. However, when that person happens to be the largest producer of ball pythons with reportedly great customer service and the best prices, I'd be willing to overlook personality flaws if it meant me being able to afford a beautiful snake I have been wanting.

As for middlemen, they have been around for as long as commercial trade has been. They fill a trade gap where it's needed, or they are in it to scam people. It's sometimes harder for them to make the money they want, which is why their prices tend to be higher. Hence the multiple postings on multiple forums, the constant BTT's, etc. In my opinion, the only thing a middle man is good for is to enable someone to get something they otherwise would be unable to because of import laws, lack of proper contacts, etc. The person who becomes a middleman to scam someone of their money by buying cheap and reselling higher is the one you have to watch out for. But then, that's why you do your homework beforehand and find the best price. If you don't you're the victim of the middleman.

So, here's what this whole rambling boils down to:

1. Like Joe Cappone or not, he is obviously a major player in the game. If you don't want to buy from him don't. However, don't slander his business practices if you can't do it your way and make the same amount of money. He's doing something right.

2. If you are the "Industry Leader" of anything, it would behoove you not to be cocky, arrogant, or go around all day tooting your own horn. You never know what bridge you may be burning that could someday save you if you need it. No matter how long people are willing to overlook personality, eventually it will get old and people will move on.

That's it. My two cents worth. Hope everyone has a good day.
