sometimes you just have to wait on things on ebay. Or just use different keywords. when i want a good chunk of driftwood from there, i just look for bird toy or driftwood, or snake perch. It's just a guessing game and when the time is right you will run across something decent.

i would not use liquid crystal themometers, I would only buy something with a probe, like this:

or one that also measure humidity:

It's a fluker's duel themometer hydrogometer. Sorry to dissapoint ya, reptiles are expensivo...

Ok, Have one of those to know Thanks to Jen. I was kinda wondering about the probes. I have had success leaving it in with my BP, but my little Leopard Gecko Gexie is way to curious and would get vicious man. You guys should of seen how he acted with my remote. When I went to monitor his temps I had to sit there with him because he was just to curious for his own good. Questions about Racks, kinda. Well I just want three little homes, so I guess it would be a small rack. I know this probably sounds way dumb, but bare with the know little girl. Those three stackable or drawer looking ones. Can those be used as they are to house my three?? A Gecko, BP, Corn Snake for those just entering my thread. Something LIKE this but bigger obviously.

Leighanne, you can't use that thing from target, because the leos need UV light. I made a really nice 3 part wood display cage for leos for about $50. I bought a small (about 12d x 27w x 36h) 3 shelf book case from Wal-Mart, a 1/4" sheet of wood panel cut exactly to the same size as the back panel of the book shelf, wood stain to match the case, a sheet of plexiglass and a few hinges and locks. I cut the plexiglass to 3 - 18 x 8 1/2 pieces, measured out where the doors should be on the front panel, and cut out 3 holes that were 17.5 x 8 and stained it to match. I mounted a 24" strip light to the top of each shelf and put the panel on with the doors. I finished with some reptile carpet to fit and vents in the sides. The doors opened down and locked at the top. I made a similar one for my corn snakes from a large bookshelf with glass front. The large one only cost about $100, but was a pain to make snake proof.

The Sterilite drawer units, at least the 3 drawer ones, are no good for snakes - there are enough gaps that the snakes would not stay contained for very long once they decided to really explore their confinement. The single units, however, do seem like they would work fairly well.

I don't want to start a leo thing in the BP world, but since when do they require UV? If anyone wants to continue this particular discussion, we can bring it to the proper forum

It would be difficult to maintain the proper temps for the 3 different species all in one unit as well, I would think. Not to mention that Harald is absolutely right about them having too many gaps, and I would wonder if the plastic would be rigid enough to resist bending under the force of a determined Ball Python finding even a small gap and wanting to make his way out of it.

I don't believe the whole UV lighting is something you need to worry about, however.

I did once try to use one of these 3 drawer systems for a clutch of leos and even they found their way out within an hour. Plus there's no good way to properly heat each different animal. Definately no good for reptiles. If anything, build a wood or melamine rack that will tightly hold 3 sterilite boxes with vent holes drilled in the side. Also, like I said in the email, these different species should not be kept that close. They will smell and hear each other and get stressed, and the corn will probably constantly be trying to get at the leo. Best building a solid rack or buying 3 20 gal aquariums, maybe larger for the bp..
