Regurge

I havbe never had to deal with this so please excuse the newbie questions. :)

I came hime today to the most horrendous smell coming from the snake room. A large female ball python regurged in her tub (did I mention it really smells bad?).
She has never been sick and nothing about her environment has changed.
The only thing that is different than the norm was that I fed her a feeder from a different source than where I usually get them last night.

Could the feeder have been bad and caused this?

How long after the regurge should I let her settle and not feed or handle?

Do I need to adjust the temps (up or down) because of this?

Would transporting her pose a problem if I bring her to the vet tomorrow?

Any specific things I should look for as far as how she acts, etc?

I changed out the bedding in the tub. Should i replace it with cypress like I usually use or should I put in newspaper?

That's about all the questions I have for now and any other suggestions on what to do would be really appreciated.

I will try to answer in order.

1. yes
2. I would say a week to 10 days
3. I would double check your temps
4. transporting her shouldn't be a problem to go to the vet, just make sure and keep her warm.
5. I would put her on newspapers


I really think your culprit might be the feeder. Usually with the snakes always look at the things that have changed first. I know I bought some frozen feeders last year that were bad and I got rid of them. Luckily I discovered this before I fed any to my snakes.

If it was a bad feeder you will probably not notice alot of changes.

You would have probably noticed it. Was it soggy, smelly, bluish in color in the belly?

Check the temperatures and let her rest for a week. Don't handle her again until she has eaten and digested at least two meals in a row.

Check them. Too low or too high temperatures can both result in regurgitation. Was the size of the prey adequate to the snake?

Not likely.

Check for any mucous discharges.

Newspaper is easier to keep clean.
