View Full Version : The bad guys, how do they stay in business?

They stay in business because people ignore the hundreds of bad deals made by the bad guys, and buy from them. If a business has made numerous lousy deals, still owe other customers money, buying from the bad guy just lets him scam someone else, EVEN if your deal goes well. I just do not understand the mind set of people buying from the people who are known scammers, hoping, just hoping their deal will go ok. Even if your deal does go ok, what about all the people who had lousy deals with the person you decide to help stay in business.

David, I truly understand your thought process, however, some folks buy because they are uniformed. Others buy from said bad guys at shows. Do you have a person or business that this thread is related to?? :shrug01: If not, it will probably get moved to the general business forum.

but reading through some of the posts lately where people have obviously been wronged by a company, but others who see the bad dealings continue to buy from them. In MY OPINION, buying from people or businesses that have bad guy posts here on the BOI, and that owe several people money, is almost as bad as being a scammer yourself....you are just purpetuating the problem. Scammers need one or two good deals to seem legit, they also need cash for their next scam, do not be the one to help them with either.

....this thread really belongs in the General Business Discussion forum. I agrree though that buying from a known scammer is just perpetuating the cycle

The plain truth as to why the bad guys stay in business is that Dennis just cannot catch them all. :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:

Some buyers may buy because they are not well informed. Regrettably as long as there are people looking at price and not quality there will always be scammers. High price does not necessarily equal low risk, but you can bet your pants that unusually low prices almost always equal high risk (or "if a deal is too good to be true...etc., etc."). It's what I like to refer as the "virtuous cycle" Vs. the "vicious cycle" paradigm.

nothing against jax, but it looks like he just couldn't accept the proof. when identical phone number AND IP address come up for two "different" people, sellers especially, I'm not sure how one can not accept the evidence.
It is sad when ignorant people get conned.
Too many people are trusting of their intution or gut feeling about a person or a deal. Sometimes they know it's too good, but it's just too hard to resist a bargin. I think the appeal of having a beautiful piebald python can turn off the critical thinking part of the brain, heh, i know I've experienced that a few times. That's why I'm thankful for this site, it's much easier to prevent a problem if you follow the threads....
