I have a Male Ball Python he is about 1400 grams and is in a 40gallon glass breeder how do i get the temp up my house is cold i have a 150 watt light on him a 75 watt light and a night heating light and the cage was only 68 last night with a heat pad under it. any ideas? junk the cage and get a tote?

If you keep him in the glass (which isn't the best) put a box over the heat pad and poke holes in the bottom of the box. Cut an opening in the side large enough for him to get through. That will make a nice heat chamber for him. By the way, this thread should go in the Ball Python Disscusion Forum, not the for sale/wanted. :o

I use an under tank heater and place a towel on the screen lid. Are you measeuring temps on the subrstrate or on the side of the tank?

i have a digital temp thing in the middle of the cage ?

You should be measuring the "hot spot" temp on the floor of the cage, directly over the heat source, as well as the ambient air temps. I don't know how, unless your house is 40 degrees, it could possibly be only 68 degrees in a 40G tank (even just measuring the air temps) with 3 bulbs and a under tank heater?? Are you certain your "digital temp thing" is correct? What kind of "heat pad" are you using?

all better he is staying at 93 during the day and 80 during the night
