Hello everyone, Thanks in advance with any help on this.

My python is probably about a year old now maybe less and it has this wierd splotchy like pattern after it shed. Some of its scales are glossy and some patches are not. Some scales are smooth are some patches are more rough. Its almost like it has patches of dry skin. I know its not left over patches of skin even though it kind of looks like it. What could this be?

Thanks

Adam,

I am not quite sure what those patches are, and if you got better pics, maybe we can help.

Dried scales is all I can gather. I would just bump up humidity a bit and wait for the next shed.

Im pretty sure its just where dryer patches of skin had a harder time peeling away from the new skin. Can anyone second me on this?

It's really hard to tell much for sure from the pics....I just don't know. My first guess would have been stuck shed, but if you're 100% certain it isn't that..... :shrug01:

I'm not sure what it is but what about trying to rub neosporin without pain reliever on it? It might help and act like a "lotion" maybe smoothing those parts out. I also agree with the humidity raise. What do you guys think?

i actually had my humity at about 80 about 1 week or long before he shed. I sprayed some of the shedding aid made Zoo Med twice before he shed also. My humity is about 65% right now. I bought a humidifier for the cage because he has had previous problems with shedding but this is the first time seeing this. I am positive its not left over skin from the shed. Maybe i will try the neosporin thing?

Sorry for the bad english(typing fast)...

His humity was around +/- 80% for a week or longer before he shed. I also sprayed the shedding aid made by Zoo Med called Repti Shedding Aid.

Thanks for all the help so far

I wouldn't any neosporin unless it is a open wound. I think it is what was stated earlier as just a problem during shed. Just keep your humidity up and it should go away after his next shed.
