In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

What is it about the 11th?

While we are somewhat on the topic of the earthquake and weird, I did watch a interesting video back in February.

I'm interested in the naked eye comet that we are going to be able to see at the end of this year (Elenin C2010X1). I was looking for more information about this comet when I stumbled across a video that was a little strange but plotted the course with JPL Small-Body Database Browser. That can be found here.
http://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=elenin;orb=1;cov=1;log=0;cad=1#cad.

It shows the comet in its current position when you open the browser and you can speed it up to track its path.

Anyway, in this video the woman is speaking about how in the second week of March the earth would be in alignment with the sun and the comet. The south pole of the earth would align with the north pole of the comet, causing a large shift of the axis. She went on to talk about how to expect a large earthquake at that time.

I didn't give it much attention after that but when this quake happened, I can't help but wonder. Last night I looked for that video but it seems to be gone. I watched it sometime in February.

It's interesting, so is that link I posted for JPL( scroll up) on the page and set it on fast forward and watch the path of the comet.

I was listening to the news a minute ago and they were talking about how the quake moved Japan's coastline by 13 feet and shifted the earth on its axis by 10 inches.

While they contributed the shift on the axis to the quake and not anything else, I still find it interesting that the video I watched was also right about the shift and quake in the second week of March. Considering the video came before the quake, I'm wondering which statements I should put more stock in?
:D

Very interesting Dennis, I read something on that comet too. I forgot all about it because it was a couple months ago. Now that I read you post it made me remember. That is a good point. The shift in axis could of caused the earthquake, instead of the other way around. Who knows. I think the Earth is in a period of geological change. One earthquake seems to lead to another.

Yeah, makes me wonder as well. We had Christchurch New Zealand, Chile, Japan. All big ones recently around the Pacific plate. Throw in a few now active volcanoes and seems something "big" has happened on all points on the pacific except for the west coast of the US.

Isn't it the northwestern states turn? I can do without one. :yesnod:

Maybe I'm just having a dumb day, but for the life of me I can't see how a comet could cause earthquakes here on Earth unless it actually HITS the Earth. A comet, unless the size of a moon, just doesn't have enough gravitational pull to affect this planet, no matter whether it is in alignment with the sun or anything else. Comets are affected by the gravitational pull OF planets and the sun, not the other way around.

So someone please point out what it is that I am missing....

I'm not sure but I think the video was trying to make the case that the comet wasn't a comet. I was mainly looking for information about viewing the comet and dismissed the video and moved on. Only remembering it for the coincidence of the timing of the earthquake with what was stated in the clip.
