In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My sister-in-laws first clutch is hatching. The normal female was bred to as Bumble Bee & a Lesser and this is what came out. We think it's a lesser but the pattern so far is so different from ours and the father!

Now, my fiancee & I's first clutch was cut today. Our "normal" female was bred multiple times to a Bumble Bee & ONCE to a Lesser. Well, when we cut the clutch, we found 2-3 Bees/Spiders, maybe 2 pastels (onje's upside down and we can't see it but I'll assume pastel as there's a lot of markings), and... 2 Lessers! 1 Lesser was a slug but here's the thing. The pattern on the slug we had, had VERY different markings from the one my sister-in-law hatched. This is our first year so we are very excited but not sure what we have here.

When we purchased the Lesser we were told he could throw "platty daddies". I have no idea how the trait works or if he actually has it or not. I know how recessive traits work and wasn't sure if the platty daddy was a recessive trait or something different. Thanks guys for reading & any help! I hope I have this in the correct section.

Looks like a lesser from what I can see

I'm not on the up and up with the platty genes so cant help you there but I do know that alot of slug babies, or babies that die in the egg tend to look crazy compaired to their siblings or same morphs....Im pretty sure this has to do with the color and pattern development during their incubation process, since they are special cases, they seem to delvelop a little different.

That's what I thought, I just wanted to make sure as my fiancee's and mine was double sired and didn't know if theirs might be as well. I was amazed that our first year breeding, out of our first clutch we had, it was double sired (unless that's not a Lesser we have in ours but it's certainly not pastel, bee, or spider). She was bred many times to the Lesser, only once accidentally to the bee to get the Lesser interested, but hey, I'm not complaining now! Our little lesser (the slug and from what I could see of the one still in it's egg) is more silvery and stripey than their little guy with his cool pattern. I guess only time will tell and I am jumping the gun in excitement? :)

I see a lesser..

Not to be difficult but first you said your female was bred multiple times by the bee and once by the lesser, then in your reply to Willow you say she was bred multiple times by the lesser and once by the bee... ??

Just clarify things so there isn't ant confusion.

Congrats though, sounds like you got great odds. Pics of all would be sweet, we love pics here :)

Ok, I mixed this up :) both snakes were bred multiple times to the Lesser. I was thinking of their other girl who I was breeding the bee to. I lost track in the snake moving and accidentally had her breeding the bee.
Now with our girl, the the Lesser was hesitant so the bee was going in just to get his smell everywhere. The bee locked quickly. Their clutch (sister-in-laws) came out as the above (the lesser with a normal) picture. Our clutch has come out with the 7 eggs and one slug that is all Lesser, Pastel, Bee, & Spider. Sorry for the mix up, were super excited since they've started pipping :)

Oh and I will post pix of ours once they're more out like he is. You can't see them to well but there will certainly be pix posted :) I don't have video proof of this all being one clutch, but we have pix of Lacie (the normal mommy) with her eggs and pix of them all in the same tote. Like I said, this is our first time so we're learning :)

Ok so in thinking about conversations I have had with people about plattys I may have a tiny bit of info that might help on that end. Now lets see if I can type it out well enough to make sense lol (not sure on this info, so take it with a grain of salt lol)

I'm pretty sure plattys are kinda like hidden gene situations....so if your male was a lesser that could make plattys...he would be a lesser platty and would look different since the lesser plattys are crazy cool looking

SOOO if he is a lesser...not a lesser platty....then he can not throw plattys....plattys look normal...but when combinded with a lesser they make crazy looking snakes.

so yea....something like that....lol

now I could be totally wrong...anyone feel free to confirm this info or not =)

Thanks for clarifying more. When I read it I was like "huh so who bred who and how many times??" Lol. I realized I may have come off a tad rude. Not my intentions so sorry if it seemed like that. Can't wait to see those babies!!

You're close willow. Take this for example: you take and breed a visual platinum to lets say a normal for example and you get lessers and normals. Only the normal appearing offspring will carry the hidden gene for platinum. The lessers aka lesser platinums cannot carry the gene only the non lesser sibs can. Hope this helps.

So our Lesser cannot carry the gene, however our normal non-Lesser female could? I doubt she does but in theory. Just wanted to clarify that we were talking about normals and not normal looking Lessers. :) Thanks

If that normal came from a platinum (not lesser) sired clutch, yes.

Right, lessers can't carry the het platty gene - if they did they would be Platinums, not Lessers.

Any normal-looking babies out of a Platinum are het platinums.

Can't wait to see them out of the eggs!

Well, the lesser passed. He is now the third Lesser we have lost (we have lost a total of 3 Lessers, all different clutches). The first Lessers died before making it out of the egg and was kinked every half inch. The second (above) had a kinked tail. The third, we aren't sure what happened to it as it never made it out of the egg (it was molded, but not kinked that we could see).
The gentleman we purchased the Lesser from (about a year ago) did not tell us anything about any kinking in the rest of the clutch so I'm starting to worry that it's the incubation process. Should I find the breeders card and call him to let him know whats been happening so he at least knows we are having this problem and it's not out of no where that we're having kinking problems? I've heard it can be genetic or incubation. Please help! Concerned parent here :)

Yea it's a little odd but in all honesty we haven't had any other come out of the eggs but Lessers. I **think** I may have found the issue (temp) and have corrected it. Whether or not it's too late I don't know. At least our main clutches have not been laid yet. I spoke with the gentleman who sold us LP (the Lesser) and he said he can assure me it's not genetic (I believe him as I've heard he's very credible and knowledgeable). Thanks and I'll keep info posted up. Thanks you guys for sharing your knowledge with me :)
