In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Doc Walker, reptidoc, Dr. Daryl G. Walker = buyer beware

Well he checks on him each morning, when he changes water for me, but on the days I get over there I am the one who checks on him. He really only gets his cage opened once a day from what I know.

whoops, his cage gets opened twice! Once to take the water out and once to put it back in. :) I know my earler post implied it gets opened more often-didn't catch it when I posted. Sorry!

Well of course a 5 day feeding schedule is too often for someone that seems to starve his babies to death!!
Angie, I really hope your scalebaby survives. I would still get a sample of his bm and take it to get tested either way! I am sorry you are going through all the stress!

Yup. Our nearest reptile vet is 4 hours away. (I think I posted that before) but he'll be going with us next time we have to go down that way. I hope he survives that long. But I'll save some poo to have tested either way.
I feel sorrier for the poor snake than I do for me. :( It's nice to know so many people care. My daughter keeps asking when she can see him, but I keep putting her off-she owns the two hypo het amber bloodred girls, and wanted a male that she could raise up and use to breed them with.

I just got an e-mail back from doc. Basically he is saying I am feeding him too often. It feels like he's trying to blame ME for doing something wrong!! Yes, he did eat a few meals for my friend and I, as I told him, but then he said "didn't he eat several meals already?" as if I forgot that!

Is typical walker arrogance and cowardice. Find a scape goat and his conscious is clear. The thing is though, as long as it is allowed to be done it will continue. I could be wrong on this but with hatchlings starving I think it works along the same lines as people who have starved to that point. The increase in food is a detriment to them. No I am not saying he is right about saying a five day feeding schedule is wrong. I am just saying that once they go past a certain point of decline and the body starts feeding off itself the food becomes detrimental because of the poor state they are already in.
So I guess all of us who have had to deal with dying babies have all been walkered.

There is indeed a point in starvation where the organs just are incapable of functioning properly ever again, and giving food can tax these barely working organs beyond their capability of handling.

Give the animal a good seven days from the gurge before feeding again and, as Rich said, make it a ridiculously small meal. Regardless of where it came from, a meal that is a little too big or too soon on the heels of the last meal can cause a gurge. This next meal is key. You need to be sure it is small enough to be kept down. A second gurge in a row will probably be fatal.

It would be very helpful if you could snap a pic of the animal with something in the frame for size reference. A pic of one of your pinks next to a coin of some sort could be useful as well. A five day feeding schedule is fine for neonates as long as the prey size is appropriate.

Weights (grams) on both the animal and the prey items would be useful as well.

By the way...those that said to stay on the 5 day schedule at the moment are dead wrong. You need to stretch it to 7 days for at least the next couple of meals. Gurges are very hard on an animal of that size. It is important to stress the digestive tract as little as possible while the intestinal flora is rebuilding to proper levels

How have the stools been since he arrived?

I would also encourage digestion by slitting a f/t pink, or even cutting it in half, along the length of the spine. It digests much faster without the skin, and a half-pink is super easy for them to get down.

He has only had one stool since he arrived. Very small and smeared on the paper in cage.
the only way I have of getting a pic is having a friend who has a camera do it for me.
She could probably do it but I'd have to get over there. The pinkies I use don't even show an obvious bulge once eaten.
Don't know about weight, I'll have to see if I can get a scale or someone who has one I can borrow.

Yes I did get a refund on most of the hatchlings. Before he saw that I had people helping me do the necro on the snakes it was more he would refund half the testing costs. But after he saw I had someone with a name helping me he suddenly got all nice and concerned.

That poo had me a little worried. I didn't like the looks of it. wasn't solid at all. of course I suppose that it could have been like that because of urates...

I dont think I seen anyone suggest just 5 days after a regurge...? The 'normal' process is to wait 10 days after a regurge and then a very small meal or just the pinkie head. Then wait 7 days and if all is ok, try 5 days. Sorry you think we are All wrong but statistically we cant All be Wrong.... Whatever :) this is the process I use after a regurge. :)

I think I'll try the 7 day way for this guy...just don't feel comfortable making him wait 10 days for his next feeding. The first regurge I ever had I did the way you did, though, Dee Anna. :) worked perfectly for that snake.
