this thread is really not accomplishing anything. there are people who agree with what usark stands for and does, and there are those that dont.
this is america, nobody should be required to buy licenses to keep anything. we have personal responsibility and our own minds to determine whether or not we chose to keep whatever we want. government should not mandate whether i want to keep a caiman croc, a retic, a kingsnake, a bark scorpion or anything else (obviously unless the native land from which the particular animals hails from deems it illegal to import it out).
its all about government control and intimidation.

No...this thread really isn't accomplishing much of anything, just like the others ROdney posted on the same topic. Although, the original thread DID actually bring about some constructive discussion for a while (which was when Rodney apparently decided it was out of control and too off topic).

I do agree with the rest of your post for the most part...however I have to say, I have seen some pretty stupid and irresponsible people who I believe should NEVER be allowed to keep animals such as crocs. But then, maybe that's just like companies having to put warning labels on everything nowadays...perhaps it would be best to just go back to letting natural selection do its job.

to really confront these issues we need a reptile organization set up in every state to fight on the local level. i really think people are putting too much faith in usark. they cant fight all of it they cant be everywhere at all times.

now you say we need local people to fight these bans and USARK can't be everywhere. and USARK is not local

thats whats so important about terry. he knows how to fight these bans. hes been doing so for 20 or 30 years.

Finally it comes out. You want us to Join Terry's organization. But you know what? Even if I wanted to join Terry's organization, I can't. Because you told me I needed someone local.

A little over 5k in signatures. This petition is not to ban large constrictors but to keep large constrictors out of the Lacey act. If we can't get 1% of the population in the US to sign a petition to stop this madness, then how do you suppose doing this locally? I have been advertising the petition everywhere but I feel my advertising just isn't working in my favor. So, please tell me how to rally thousands of people locally when we are having a hard time rallying thousands of people nationally.

Sorry but Terry has NOT been fighting bans in htis state LOL. He has been fighting HIS local ordinences. He has been fighting issues with his store and complaints that force issues for him to deal with. Hell he was sealing "pocket pets" mostly sugar gliders years ago and kept them in the back because he KNEW he had to have a USDA permit for them. Years ago he "WOWED" people with his huge tics and burms and saying he was the 'ONLY" captive producer of many of hte animals. Trust me when I say that "MYSTIC" wore off YEARS ago. Not the guy I want speaking for me on these issues.

What about the one where he claimed the animals were not tagged because they were not his. He blamed it on his little girl saying they were her pets. or What about the picture of a little girl on his website holding a crocodile . It was almost as big as her. how freaking careless is that? That is NOT responsible. the reptile's mouth is NOT secured. Unless it has some magic invisible rope.

Do I want someone like this representing me? As aforementioned, he is too busy fighting local ordinances and negative attention that he brought forth in his direction as a result of his own actions. Do I want someone with a penchant for breaking city ordinances in Ohio to represent me in Arizona?

So If ANYONE should be able to own ANY type of animal they want, and without having any type of regulations imposed on them........
If your lion, tiger, bear, king cobra, gaboon viper, boomslang, or even just your dog escapes your home and comes into my yard/house and kills one of my kids then I should be able to do what about it? I guarantee it wouldn’t be to your liking and it would be slow and painful.
Not everyone should be allowed to own animals. Some people shouldn't be allowed to keep kids, much less procreate. Not everyone keeps their animals properly contained or housed.
Its sad but true. Unfortunatly we have to have some type of regulations. We have let our selves down. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

i guess that is the libertarian in me. personal responsibility is what it should be about. but now days, most people dont have that, they have the "how cool i can be" responsibility. i guess i should have said, it should be regulated within the reptile community (like a non-government regulated organization, however, i doubt there will ever really be one).

I agree with that 100%. The problem is that isn't going to happen. We know they are sticking their nose around so organizations like USARK are our only chance. As much as we all wish we didn't have to compromise, that just isn't an option at this point in time. Therefor USARK seems to be doing all they can with what they have.

i agree, that its probably not going to happen, unless we as a community step up and take on something like that. usark is one of our only slim chances. we just have to hope that they are truly for and about us, and they are/will fight for our rights. maybe they are, maybe theyre not, but we just have to keep an eye open with for them and hope they are ligit

I don't recall having posted in any of your previous threads, though I did peruse some of them.

If you look at the forum menu, you will see exactly how many people are at least opening up these threads of yours.

IMO the few people who post in these threads are the few who bother to take the time to decipher your convoluted posts and explain - repeatedly - to you points that you do not seem to be able to understand.

Personally, I'm not going to bother, I have zero confidence that I would be able to explain anything any better than all of those who've gone before me.

I just wanted to refute that that it's only a very small number of people who are reading these threads and forming their own opinions.

I personally have no desire to further feed your egocentrism so I don't plan on wasting any more of my own time respoding again in one of your threads.

I will thank some of those really knowledgable people who HAVE taken their time to put together some very informative posts- I've learned quite a bit about the industry from reading these threads in spite of you.

i think you make a good point about how few people went and singed that. most people are to the point with usark emails that they dont even read them anymore. everyone have got used to usark emails about them going to shows and so come out and support.

honestly i think people are getting burnt out with all the bans and usarks way of talking about them. they stop a few get a few put on hold and they they claim victories and then the bans pop right back up. i remember that one email at he end of last year about all the victories and we stopped the biggest ban we have every seen, and then two month into 2011 they all popped right back up. they cant keep acting like we are winning and then tell us we are losing a few months later, all the while ask for donations. its so long before people start losing faith.

i bet very soon like with in a month you see usarks email labels a little different. remember this
