Allright Donnie, lets go over this now that you are starting to tell some truths.
"As far as the table space, hotels, and helping me sell animals, that is true. I'm not the most outgoing person and selling animals is a totally different game than breeding/keeping them. I thought he was being a friend, and I reciprocated the favors by helping him at numerous shows, building a couple websites for him, designing his logos, and even defending him here when he asked. My problem is that was never part of the deal when I sold snakes that he refused to pay for."
Here are some more lies. Donovan was paid cash from me, the amount that he specified and some trade in animals to build my ONE website. He never touched the second site. There was no favor he got paid.
"Back in 2010, Evan was interested in purchasing 200 hatchling corns from me of various morphs. We agreed to meet up at the Indianapolis Expo which is a 6 hour round trip for me. After the show I got tired of waiting for him to pay me so I finally asked him as he was breaking down his set-up. He then proceeds to explain to me that he never said he would pay me THAT DAY."
I told Donovan from the go that I did not need the corns but if he wanted to give them to me I would get him paid when I could likely a net 30, which is a very common practice in this and every other business. You dont usually go to a smaller show with several thousand extra dollars in your pocket. I buy large quantities of animals from people all of the time on credit. I had pre-arranged deals with pay dates set and they were done before his and I was going to honor my word and pay them first. Sorry, that is how life goes.
"After I communicated to him that this was not what I expected, I told him if that is the case, then I'm just going to take the rest of my snakes back home with me (even though he sold some of them there). Then, when he sends me the money, I’ll ship him the snakes. That led to him throwing his display lights while yelling and cursing at me, having what appeared to me as a temper tantrum. I would have expected more from a professional, and by those who witnessed it, I wasn't alone."
I got angry at the show with Donovan because he constantly had to keep pestering me for money while I was trying to deal with customers and make sales. That is going to piss me off every time and he was like a small child, every five minutes you correct the behavior and then he is right back to the same crap. If he had acted like an adult and waited until the end of the show I would not have been upset. I gave him several hundred dollars at that point which he fails to mention as well.
"Seeing how this wasn't going very smoothly and how it would jeopardize our friendship, I reluctantly agreed to take some of it in trade for rodents, since this is where most of my money goes anyway. So I left Indi with $425 in rodents and him promising to send me another $500 by the NARBC in Tinley (which was in the next few weeks). He said he would later pay the rest when he could. Keep in mind that he just sold a ball python for five grand at that show, but, as he is fond of saying my animals are "just cornsnakes” (???)."
"Reluctantly"??? he told me a hundred tiomes that he needed the money to feed his snakes and he told me he was not feeding them so I called his bluff and got the rodents that he needed to be sure his snakes got fed.
Sorry, I like ball pythons a lot more than cornsnakes. I really doubt I am the only one since most people in this industry who used to breed corns got rid of them and got into ball pythons instead. I guess I am not allowed to have an opinion.
Donovan specifically told me that the reason he needed money from me was to get rodents to feed his snakes. So I told him I would get him rodents and I did. Both at the show and then paying Brian Hahn to ship rodents to donovan a couple months later. He leaves that out though.
"After several more months of attempting to collect the balance from him, he kept coming up with excuses. My favorite being that he had "more important people to pay then me". I explained to him how it cost me $75 a week to feed my 300+ snakes, including his albino checkered garters that I was taking care of for him. My rational being that even though it was becoming increasingly obvious he doesn’t care about my expenses, I thought he might at be concerned about his own animals."
What??? I thought he said there were no albino garters????
There were no several months, there were two indy shows in a row and as soon as donovan refused to return my animals I was done. The snakes were worth $500-600 and easily produce $1000-1500 worth of babies each season with very little work, just have to feed them once a week. He cheated me out of a years worth of production and the adults and I saw the snakes for sale on his table at st louis, even though they were never his to sell.
"The next thing I know he is claiming that I'm blackmailing him and that he will make arrangements to get me credit in rodents AFTER I send him his garters. Yeah right, I may be naive, but I'm not stupid. I politely explained to him that I will return his garters to me as soon as I have the remaining balance of $2075 that he owed me for my snakes."
Websters defines blackmail as "extortion or coercion by threats. often by threats of exposure to public or government." Donnie did both, he threatened if I did not give him money to keep my snakes and he threatened to post me a bad guy thread on this site. Does that meet the definition of blackmail?
"This lead to a series of emails where he proceeds to do everything from mock me, claim my animals were defective"
Upon delivery at the show I showed donovan where in my brown paper bag of corns he brought me, there were empty deli cups and severe spinal kinks that he was charging me for and those were right off the top of the pile. I told him I was not going to pay his price as there were all kinds of credits. I gave him back a pile of defective babies that he said he would credit me for. He told me that he had a friend help him pack and that the empty cups were from his buddy putting airholes in them that were large enough for the snakes to get out through. I guess all of this slipped donnies mind too.
"and change the original selling price from $3000 to $2000. It was apparent that he was being a deadbeat, so I proceed to explain to him how this would look on the BOI at fauna."
again, this is blackmail.
"He also told me to keep the garters. So much for me “stealing” them."
Are these the garters that you lied in this very thread about never having gotten from me in the first place???
"At this point our relationship was done, both personally and professionally.
I figured I was just out a couple grand, but tried to look at it as a learning experience, albeit a hard one. I never went on here or anywhere public prior to this past weekend to tell about my falling out with Evan. I felt embarrassed and I knew it wouldn’t help my case anyway. I knew if I did, it would just cause more drama, which it has."
It is funny how attempting to prevent somebody from making a living at their job will make them upset isnt it?
The truth is donovan I helped you out a lot, we were friends. You never did a damn thing for me without getting paid or wanting to get paid for it. You leached off me and then got mad when I told you right to your face as you posted above, that you were not the most important person in the world. I continued to pay you and had every intentions of doing so, until you stole my snakes. The value of the snakes and the offspring you cheated me out of very easily compensates you for your loses, and that was your choice, not mine. I had already made arrangements to keep sending you rodents to feed your animals. You left that out too, from your story, how your animals were doing poorly and not getting fed because you were unemployed and lazy and would not do anything to feed them just sit on your ass playing x-box while your wife threatened to throw you out of her house. I both got you money and rodents.
I just sincerely hope that regardless of how people that read this respond to what you posted that they realize that I was your friend, I helped you out and you F@#@$@ me over because you were not happy with the deal and arrangements that you had made, and when you saw what my ball pythons sold for you were jealous and told me that at the shows repeatedly. You are very petty. You wont even admit that you were paid to build my site???
