    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Bad Experience with Carson Phelps of Herps Etc

And here we are, back to the fundamental black & white difference as to what happened. This is not a grey issue.

Carson says white, Guy says Black (or vice versa).

Paige, I did not contradict myself. I stated our original deal did I not go through and our new deal was...I did not mention at that time our original deal included a full refund since I wanted to ensure some type of payment. You will notice I did not post too much until I received the cash which is what I wanted from day one. Carson new at any the all he had to do was pay me back and it was over. The reason deals changed was not from my end. Carson did offer the banana but I wanted to know what the whole package would be before receiving anything.

My phone calls with Carson do notimic everything that has been posted. Since posting Carson has been much easier to deal with.

I would also like to think everyone who contributed to helping me with this situation.
 
Chris, I agree but on phone conversations I think he said he ships about 500. Either way any dealer will have something to offer?????

Guy, did Carson ever mention the name of the second guy (his buddy) who he was getting the scaleless corns from or where said buddy lived?
 
Paige, I also did not complain about having to pay the fees for the money order or shipping I was merely stating. What kind of proof do you want? The main thing that Carson and I differ on from original posts were timing and refund.
 
I honestly don't remember the exact timing of when he said the original " guy" was not returning his calls and out of contact. But he did say he would be able to get some.

None of the above. Just an average guy.
I originally thought all this BOI would do is bring it to people's attention so it would not happen to them. I am still surprised at how quickly it has helped correct the situation.

Almost three years ago, I put out a "wanted" thread here on Fauna for a 1.0 Pastel Butter breeder. I was looking for this male for breeding season. I received a couple of responses for one on average $1,500.

I then looked on KS and found a guy by the name of Herps Etc advertising one for $900. Wow, what a deal I thought (in my ignorant earlier years of trying to find supposed "deals"). I contacted Carson about the snake and sent money via PayPal ($900 + $100 shipping). I was told the snake would ship the following Monday. Long story short: after several promises to ship, no tracking numbers, the snake never arrived. Excuse after excuse followed. Promise after promise. Nothing. Carson finally told me that he couldn't ship the snake because it supposedly had a prolapsed hemipenis. (Before anyone tries to bring it up, the delay in shipping was never attributed to weather)

I told him to send my money back, I was done playing games and waiting. He tried desperately to get me to switch to a different snake, offering me 10% off something else. At this point I had had enough and demanded my money back again.

No written responses from Carson, it was always a phone call.
In a much shorter time frame, I was in Guy's shoes, and can 100% understand and believe Guy because of my own experience.

I'm not out to destroy Carson or his business, but I'm not going to let anyone chalk this up to Guy being some kind of supposed fruit loop and Carson's only time ever of giving his customer the complete run around.

I subsequently turned around and bought the 1.0 Pastel Butter from another individual for $1,400 and it was shipped out asap, no games.

He had an issue and I wasn't going to ship u a snakes that's not 1000 percent perfect

Yes I tried to offer you other males to compensate for the pastel lesser male
And give u a discount

I don't see anything wrong with that

I sell lot of snakes each year
Is there gonna be little issues here and there yes

It's part of the livestock business

Will I offer a discount to mend a issue ofcourse

This situation with guy is different
He's saying 1 thing I'm saying another

So what everyone want to believe is up to them

At this point it's done

I have never brought up our transaction before, and would have probably left it silent, except for your comment about the "So there's certain things that I didn't bring up about the OP to avoid and extra non sense".

As far as you being completely honest with me, at what point did he (the snake) have his "issue"? Was he that way before you offered him up for sale, before you took my money, if so there was never any mention of it? Was he that way when you were first supposed to ship him? or the second time, or the third time? Your complete honesty of his "issue" was NEVER mentioned until the final day (almost 2 weeks into our transaction) when I got my money back. Not once was it brought up before that. Since that is your definition of "complete honesty", don't be surprised at how few people enjoy getting a run around like that in the future.
 
As far as shipping the pastel lesser goes
Looking at the dates I could only assume I couldn't ship due to weather since it was winter
I rarely ship snakes fed ex in the winter airlines only
So I most have bin playing with the weather to ship fed ex
As far as the snake goes rite before I was going to set up shipping
I notices the snake had issues with his prolapse hemipenis
Not sure what happen and why it happen but it happened
it was a sad site
I gave the snake to a vet friend of mine and eventually was put down


Like I said he saying one thing I'm saying another

What anyone makes out of it
Is up to them

Carson and I could go back and forth with "he said, I said." We obviously have a disagreement on what was said - but we both know what our agreement was. It will not be productive for anyone to "call names."

But let's see when I receive the 213's - 0.2 Yellowbellies, 0.2 Mojave and 1.0 Pewter Vanilla that he said he would ship instead of the scaleless ratsnakes. Which I will definitely post and attach pictures. Which I feel is a decent "interest rate."

Having read and been part of this thread, I can probably attribute most every problem back to one single source, no documentation. This is either a huge business flaw at best or an intentional system to produce a lack of paper trails at worst.

It appears you do most of your business via phone conversations. While this might be nice in establishing initial communication, feeling out customers interest and setting up deals, it will always leave both you and the customer in a "he said, she said" bind when things go wrong if nothing is ever written out.

How you conduct your business is your choice, I hope you will take this as a constructive criticism and consider documenting things more.

For example, shoot the breeze with John Doe for an hour, sell him on your services etc. As the conversation is about to wrap up tell John Doe that you will be sending him an email recapping your deal for him to approve. In the email simply state the deal and feel free to add words like "this written agreement supersedes prior verbal conversations, etc." In the end you both clearly understand things and have a written meeting of the minds.

Again, constructive criticism, take it or leave it.

Glad to hear that you awaiting "interest" snakes too Guy.

You can "only assume"? You don't remember? Seems like you remember several details until you trip yourself up by forgetting what excuses you used on which victim you have inconvenienced with your antics. Wash your hands thoroughly. I bet this won't be your last visit here.

You've been a member of this site for less than a year. I think it is safe to assume that since you are so strongly defending Carson's actions (over his "one bad deal"), that you are not aware of his previous shenanigans over the past 11 years that have tarnished his so called sterling reputation. People have a right to be skeptical because in the past he often chooses to ignore requests for explanation or make things right.
