Matt Edmonds from Richarson Texas Stole 600 dollars in snakes from me!
Here's the story. This guy (Matt Edmonds) e-mailed me to be put on my contact list for super tigers I was hatching out. The snakes hatched on April 22, 2003 so it was some time before that that he first contacted me. Well, he waited all that time for a female super to be ready for shipping and there was a mixup on my part so that snake was actually a male. I decide I would call him the next day after I get home from school and let him know. When I got home from school (Wednesday the 21st of May) I saw he called and left a message saying he sent the money order out Tuesday (May 20, 2003) 9:00am and would like for me to try to send the snake out this week if possible. I called him back and told him the bad news. He didn't seem that upset about it, but I said since you waited so long for a female I would throw in one of my best female tiger retics for free and get them out tomorrow(Thursday, May 22). He said "thanks!" and then said since you only charged 30 dollars for shipping I actually made that money order for 440 instead of 430. Well, the snakes went out that Thursday and I called him friday to make sure they arrive ok. He said yes and he was happy with them. I told him I would let him know when the money got here and that was it. The money didn't make it that week nor did it make it the next week so on Friday(May 30th) I tried to call him and got a message saying this line has been disconnected. I then e-mailed him to asked about it and asked him to look into it. He got back to me on Saturday(May 31st) and said this.

Hay ther ben was up. It was sent im not shore what is tacking so long but i have not reaseved the $ back or any thing like that. so I hope it will be there soon. i thawt sens i havent herd froom you in a week or so it was alredy there.o and the phone thing i had it shut off but it will be back on on thersday. long story any way e mail me when you get the $ if it coms my way it will be sent over night. sorry it hasent got there yet. i dont whant you to think im going to stif you. cuz im just not that tipe off man. so we will chat later (Matt)



I emailed him I think one or two more times asking if he has found out anything but didn't hear back so this is the next e-mail I sent to him.

It is clear now that the money isn't coming. I know you are a nice guy but you have shown no effort in trying to find out what has happen to the 430 dollars you claimed to have sent on the 20th of May. I have no other choice but to post this experience with you on the BOI and file a i-net fraud claim with the FBI unless you get back in touch with me by Monday and show me something. I have had friends ask some other herpers in Texas about you and Chris Delay (the only one I found that said he knows you) said you were a good guy. So please show Chris is right and get back to me. Bottom line I have sent 600 dollars in snakes over two weeks ago and I don't have anything to show for it but a 63.86 dollar bill from airborne. Please try and work this out so it doesn't have to take a turn for the worst.

I sent you $440 which is ten more than originally requested two full days before the snakes were received. i have had a similar instance occur and I would not put any other person in that situation. I have been dealing with reptiles since i was about eleven, and have been dealing on "kingsnake" since i was eighteen. There has never been an instance where money was "not received" which I had shipped via money order. If there is something we can work out i would greatly appreciate you getting in touch with me via e-mail or snail mail. I would love to get this resolved as soon as possible.

I sent him one more e-mail which I thought I saved but I can't seem to find it. Basically I just stated how this wasn't good enough and if I still had the snakes I'm sure he would be trying a lot harder to find the money and even told him since he sent a money order all he has to do is take the stub to where ever he got it and cancle it then send a new one. I have yet to hear back from him since that time so here I am. Hopefully this will keep others from being taken. I know it was a rather silly mistake on my part to send the snakes out with out payment in hand but I felt bad because of my error and I thought he seemed like a rather stand up guy. Not to mention I was shipping that day and was having to miss class every time I sent something out to people.
One more thing. He told me his phone would be back up and to this day it still isn't up. So please beware!!!!

Chris Delay

I also just wanted to add Chris is in no way connected to Matt Edmonds other than he bought a boa from him one time and everything went well in his transaction. I have know Chris from the forums over at kingsnake for years and have never heard a bad word about him from anyone. Just wanted to make sure that was clear.

well so you sent a male then sent a female so 2 shipments were sent prior to payment?,,,if so man that sux,tough way to learn NOT to ship before you have received payment,,post all the info you have on this person address,phone,etc, im in houston,tx. and ive never heard of matt edmonds course as big as texas is that aint sayin much,but i will ask around best of luck and keep us posted,,,,,thomas davis T&S reptile farm

No I caught the mistake before I sent any of the snakes out. They went out together. It was just he waited for a month or more for a female super and I didn't have one to give him. So, I said I can either send you your money back when it get here or if you still want that super that's a male I'll throw in one of my best tiger females for free and ship this week like you wanted. So, actually if I didn't make the mistake on the snakes sex I wouldn't have shipped before the money got here.
Just an update. I still haven't heard back from Matt even after I told him about this post.

Matt is back

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up that Matt Edmonds is back into snakes, and clearly still has difficulty with being truthful. He currently lives in Florida as well.

I found him posting on a face book group called USA BURMESE PYTHON KEEPERS AND BREEDERS back in December 2014.

I asked if he was the same Matt Edmonds that stole some retics from me, and he denied being the same guy. I then went into my old email account to get the email address he used to rip me off, and when I put it into the face book search his face book page popped right up....lol I put this information in the comments at the link below. He then quickly quit the group, and had nothing else to say. Here is a link to the post this all happened on. I was using my wife's face book account Kristen Grady, as I don't have a facebook account. Also, you won't be able to read it unless you are a member so I'll post some screen shots in a little bit.

There was more to this story that was posted today on another face book group, but most of it was deleted now, and honestly it didn't add much anyhow. Other than more claims by him that it wasn't him and that maybe an old friend used his email account and did this without him knowing....lol He has also since change the email account that is linked to his facebook account after I busted him on December 26th, 2014. You can see in the link above that I nailed him on it though in the comments....lol He has also been well aware of this thread on the BOI since then and has not felt the need to defend himself.

Wow that's crazy considering he is one of the biggest advocates we have for retics and gave us updates on the lacey act and has been pushing fund raising for usark. He is even a listed person on the injunction. This sucks to hear

I wouldn't have put this up if I wasn't sure it was him. I also have an email as late as 2006 from him where he would send me links to pictures of him so I've seen plenty of pictures of him too. I don't know why he would do this other than to remind me what he got away with. I know these emails weren't just sent to all his contacts as the email titles would be something like "retics ".

so according to Ben Rogers I stole 430 dollars from him in 2003. it is now 2015 and in December he did hit me up about this. so out of respect for a reptile page I had sent him a pm. it simply stated im sorry about what happened to you then, but it was not me. I herd nothing till last night from him [may 13] I figured it was over boy was I off. he stated I lived in a part of Texas and stole $600 worth of animals from him. I did live in Texas but not there where. ( had some mint picture) stating that matt Edmonds sent money tue. 9am 4250 e Renner rd. Richardson Texas # was 214 886 6200
then he went on to pay and get some information. this information gave a phone # 0f 972 783 8828 said I was in production Occupations and was the owner of said property. the address is an apartment complex at the age of 20. im not doing that well. so I called them and spoke with a leasing person. I asked simply if a Matthew Edmonds ever lived there. she looked it up n told me no never a Matthew Edmonds. his friend pulled up my information as well. it had that I lived in Plano Texas and Dallas that was all that was listed in Texas. so after 12 years Ben you come to me with lies and bull. I can post pictures of that post as can you. but as I have told you it was not me and I don't know who it was.
