In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

He contacted me in regards to my ad for Ctenosaura palearis by PM, then called me this evening. He told me, he had a blank Chase Money order he would make out for $400 for the palearis plus shipping.

Sounded quite odd, "having a blank Chase M.O."

Has any one had any dealings with him, or know him??

I'm NOT dealing with him now or in the future, regardless.

Subject: I am sending you a 400.00 money order give an address, zip, etc.

I am not aware of pm nomenclature with reptile classifieds. I appear to have upset you unknowingly. For this I am sincerely sorry.
I certainly had no voluntary knowledge of what my post did.
I am holding in front of me a blank Chase money order. See photo attached.

The variable weather looks amazing this week. How soon can you ship to me?
Will they be in my possession before the weekend?

Looks like he is still on probation for setting the fire mentioned in the article above. I wonder if that check he was going to send out was some sort of counterfeit or stolen check. If so I'm pretty sure that would violate his probation.

He recently bought several reptiles from me and paid with a credit card. Everything went fine and I have talked to him several times. Hope all is well because I sold him one of my favorite C. Pectinatas.

Marilyn,
I hope for your sake the credit card charge goes through for you without a glitch.

I say that because, I've never met any one with a BLANK Chase Bank money order, until yesterday!

Let us know how your transaction with Stephen turns out for you......

Maybe by blank money order he meant he bought it and hadn't filled out the "pay to" portion. I agree it still seems a little strange and knowing the horrible things people do its always best to er on the side of caution, but sometimes people do say something that sounds fine to them but sends up red flags for everyone else.

Julia,

Thanks for your input!

I definitely agree with you, but it's not going to change my mind, I'll NOT sell him any of my critters now or in the future. I don't get a good feeling from this guy.

The sale, and the money, NEVER out ways the well being of my critters.

I talked with him at length on several occasions over the phone and he emailed me a picture of his Rhino iguana. He seemed very nice and his Rhino was well care for. He picked the reptiles up at the Hub because he was concerned about them being on a truck. He told me he was not electronically savvy and there were a few things he did not understand but otherwise seemed genuinely concerned about properly caring for the animals. I am concerned about the number of animals he appears to be buying up but he said he was just getting into the whole reptile thing and when people go to shows they often buy multiple animals. I am not defending him but hope that all goes well for everyone.

I agree and wasn't trying to change your mind. I probably wouldnt send my animals to him either. I was just pointing out that maybe the way he said it wasn't how he meant it or how you understood it. I can see it meaning 2 things, either a blank check without the amount filled in which would make me think it was fake/stolen or blank meaning the pay to part wasn't filled in like many money orders are when bought. My old landlord only accepted money orders, if I bought it at Western union or the post office the amount was printed on it but I had to fill in the to and from part. My credit union on the other hand filled all the info in for me. I don't know how chase does it so either possibility I mentioned could be the case. The fact that he's buying so many animals at once is enough for me to decide against selling one of mine to him but to each their own.

The Chase Money Orders are a credit card promotion. I got a packet of 6 of them in with my last credit card statement. You use them like chances and I charges to your credit card as a money withdrawal and you pay the interest on it based on what ever intrest you would normally pay for getting cash off your card. I never used them, as I only keep the card for emergencies.

Curious, your saying they're actually " BLANK MONEY ORDERS", and not CREDIT CARD CHECKS?

I used to get those as well when I had a chase card. I wondered if that was what the buyer was talking about too and just misspoke when he said 'money order'.

Stephen has been in contact with me and sent pictures of the animals I sold him. He has also asked my advice on care and husbandry for other animals. I really believe he is sincere. One of my animals is very pricey and he is doing a payment plan. Just doesn't seem like what a scammer would do. I would assume the blank money order is like the checks they use to send but they are calling them money orders.
