In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Gastro3003 aka Dr. Robert Brunner -- Scam Artist, Forger, Beware!

Alan, that is *assuming* the OP, Ici, did not change the price, in the main body of the original Ad, to reflect the new, and lower, price for the week.
Do you know if the main body, of the original Ad, reflected a higher price, than $6500, on 04-22-16 at 03:01 PM (date/time Ad was created)?
If so, then I see your point about being a person "of their word" &/or honoring an incorrect, lower, price that was placed, in error, in an Ad.

However, as Nick pointed out, an Ad, itself, is not binding *if* an agreement has been made (even one different from an Ad).
An agreement, legally, supersedes someone's prior word &/or an Ad.
Bottom line is that an agreement, that has been made/finalized, is all that matters ... regardless of how someone, outside the two parties involved in the agreement, feels about it.

....

Looks like someone doesn't appreciate having his BOI exploits linked into his ads. :nopity: :whine:

What's funny is he tells people to read his good guy posts, he still doesn't get it, those good guy posts don't make up for his behavior in this thread.

he still doesn't get it

I think what he doesn't get is the scope of the damage he is doing to himself. He perhaps is used to sites where he does not have to post his identity, and sides where people scatter in terror at the word 'court'.
Here, his posts are permanent with his name, and everyone is laughing (or should be) at his ridiculous legal threats.

And I truly do not believe he 'gets' the scope of what could happen if this unbusinesslike behavior of his continues. If he sends secret nasty messages to some people here, they could send out secret copies of this thread printed out, to various real world recipients associated with him, in a heartbeat.

My favorite post in this thread is "my wedding ring is worth more to me than 100 radiateds" but he traded it for 1/3 of a radiated lol anyone else realize that?

You all win .. simple man .. simple mind .. sorry for detracting from the main issue here. So .. the fact Ici stated in his ad that the tortoise came from #443 and never proved it ... which could effect the true value of the tortoise ... doesn't matter because we don't know if the Dr. negotiated for a different tortoise ... though the pictures in this thread presented by Ici from his ad are the same as the pictures in the ad I was referring to .. then again i guess it would be up to the Dr. to have asked for proof if he was concerned about being told an inaccuracy ;-)
Anyway .. I have wasted more time than I care to admit on this thread .. after over 300 posts we know little more than we knew in the first 5 posts ... what we don't know is:
-- Is the tortoise in question alive?
-- Is vet paperwork authentic or forged?
-- Is it even for the tortoise in question (vet paperwork)?
-- Who has the tortoise in question .. Ici .. Tuan .. Dr. Brunner ... someone else?
-- Who did Ici get the tortoise from? Is it son of #443?
-- How much is the ring used as collateral worth?
-- How many dishonest people are we dealing with?
-- When will this thread end .. lol!? :)
Personally .. I would never deal with either of these guys ...not that I would ever have the need to .. I deal with Marginated Tortoises ... a lot less expensive .. but my pets are priceless to me :)

Thanks .. to all the contributors to this thread, Rich , Harold, and the mods! Best to all of you and best of luck in all your future reptile involvements :)

Is Parrots of the World a veterinarian's office in addition to being a pet store and aquarium? I didn't see anything about veterinarian services on their website.

So it's a bird seller, yet he's saying he took a tortoise to receive vet care from them?

I dont know if the store and the vet are the same, but I was in that store about 3 or 4 years ago, when I lived in the area and It's actually quite a nasty place. Many animals being improperly housed. For instance, I saw multiple macaws and african grey parrots being housed in fish tanks - multiple birds in one 20 gallon, dirty fish tank. Felt like a skeevy animal bazaar out of an old Chinatown movie set just walking in there. If they are vets too, I don't know that I would put too much faith in them.

I wondered the same thing, I literally read everything on the site and there was no mention of being a vet. It said they give advise about all sorts of exotics and the owner is some sort of expert but I'd think if he was a vet it would say vet not expert.

It is the same address and web site so it must be the same place and no mention of a vet anywhere. I honestly believe the tortoise being alive or dead is nothing more than a side bar conversation. The tortoise belongs to Dr Brunner, he left the ring as collateral for final payment of the animal and he has reneged on that payment. Ici if the ring is worth $1300 sell it and you are even, if not sell it and what ever is left over is basically what the Dr scammed you out of.
Lots of red flags here, if I paid $5K for an animal and thought it was sick right away I would be screaming bloody murder, if the seller offered a full refund on return....well who wouldn't jump on that. My guess the Dr already had the tortoise traded for something he wanted more which could be the reason KY has not posted any info.
Ici if I got ripped off for that amount I too would be trying to jab as much as I could but you are doing yourself a disservice with the taunting. Dr offering to settle a $1300 balance for $650 is a slap in the face, you owe the money either you pay or you don't. Saying the tortoise was sick and died shortly after receiving it does not add up when an offer to return it was made and refused. On the first page you said you would pay the $1300 to get the ring back, why don't you do it and live up to your word. If you want to regain so much credibility you have lost here do that and then prove that Parrots of the World is a vet clinic and not some friends exotic animal store you thought would back your claim.

The photo of the bill from the first post indicates that it was paid via credit card ending in 6818 or 6878. If it's legit, it seems like it should be easy for the good doctor to provide a screenshot of his credit card account that shows a corresponding charge which fits the date and amount shown on the bill.
This is a really good idea. It has turned into such a long thread, has Brunner responded with a screen shot as requested?
I don't think Ici has responded with the requested valuation of the ring, I believe he said he knew someone on 47th street so the time involved should be negligible.

Sorry, but no, I don't believe I am missing the point at all. The point is there really isn't any PROOF of what both parties are claiming at all. All I see are two people...

:iagree:

Ok first of all why would Dr take a pic of a photo copy of the vet bill not of the original, clearly you can see the shadow of his hand and phone. I'd like to see the original. Second how can someone who is not a veterinarian do labs, x-rays, fecals, prescribe antibiotics, etc? And why are those services nother listed on their website site? The site just says they give advise and guidance. If they offered all those other services it would be stupid not to list them on their site. I'll be on long Island this weekend to meet with the real estate agent regarding a house I'm selling in commack which shouldn't be too far from parrots of the world. I think I'll stop in and ask some questions about what services they offer.

I contacted Parrots of the World and asked if they treat sick reptiles, they referred me to a Dr. Marder.Screenshot (431).jpg Dr. Marder has two offices, one in Long Island, about 5 miles east of POTW and another in Manhattan.

Guess that answers our questions, no need for me to visit there now. It's quite obvious that they DO NOT offer any of the veterinary services listed on that reciept. So Dr, what do you have to say for yourself now? Caught in yet another lie. I think his patients and employer should be informed that he is a compulsive liar and have the opportunity to read all of his responses in this thread and the other bad guy threads about him. I know I would change Dr's as fast as I could if he were my Dr and I saw this.

I think the thing that boggles my mind (sans the drama) is the thought that if I bought a sick tortoise, especially at the price paid, that died, I'd be gunning to get my money back. I'd certainly not be eager to pay $650 more to end this thread.
