In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Gastro3003 aka Dr. Robert Brunner -- Scam Artist, Forger, Beware!

I think the thing that boggles my mind (sans the drama) is the thought that if I bought a sick tortoise, especially at the price paid, that died, I'd be gunning to get my money back. I'd certainly not be eager to pay $650 more to end this thread.

Plus the $1004 vet bill and $75 disposal fee.

I know I would change Dr's as fast as I could if he were my Dr and I saw this.

How many people reading this thread from start to finish would consent to have anesthesia and then, unable to monitor the proceedings, would let Dr. Brunner near them while he had a scalpel in his hand?

Someone with a death wish? I can't see anyone of sound mind consenting to being operated on by Dr brunner. "No sir I swear I didn't leave a hemostat inside your abdomen."

When was the last time that any of you received a relatively undetailed bill that was filled out by hand from an actual veterinarian's office?

Probably about 20 years ago. Even when I take the dog in for her yearly shots the bill is printed and detailed notes from the visit are included. And my dog/cat vet is extremely old school and for a lack of better term country and still don't hand write my reciepts. I didn't even think about that point nick, great point. The price he paid for those services seems insanely high as well.

Well, he did take the tortoise home while it was sick. So he knew full well that it was "sick" when he took possession of it. That kind of nulls the possibility of asking for his money back since it was sick when he took possession.

If it were me, I wouldn't have paid for a sick animal in the first place, much less take it home and then want to deal with everything that might come from having a sick animal in my home with my other animals.

Not since I lived in a small town and our vet did things by hand. Knowing that he's in a MAJOR City area makes me question everything about that. The city is too hectic to have time to hand write things. It's computerized and you can check different boxes then print invoices. Hand writing takes too much time and slows things down. Very peculiar indeed.

I live in a smallish rural area. My vets here still use a records and billing management software program and provide printouts for estimates, finalized bills (that are itemized in some detail), and any related reports. No sundials for marking the time, either.

Seems odd.

Yes, makes it seem like he really did swipe some stationary from their desk or he bought a bird (they are a bird seller) and they just wrote out a very vague receipt that he's now claiming is for the tort.

I've been reading and following this for a few days now.. and most of the comments I would have posted had been said by others..
BUT
while reading, I did ask myself this...
so he sold the Turtle for 5k and only got 3700$ plus a ring still to be appraised..
Didn't the DR. sell to this Tuan person for 6500k or something like that ??
it sort a hit me a while back and I waited to see if someone else noticed that.. but with all the talks of the DR. having $$ issues flipping it at 6500$ while trying to get out of the 1300$ that a nice fast 2800$ in pockets pretend it's dead and all is done..even if he did get a certificate for a dead tort, could be any other tort and I don't think this parrot place would know the difference between the species anyways !!!!! so if all this story is true, the animal is still alive and well.. this Tuan guy should really show up to clear this mess up.
I think he's the only one who can really shed light on this once and for all.. even if the OP says he has nothing to gain,,, everyone I know would chip in if their name was mentioned as owning something that was declared dead ??? NO ???

I sent Tuan a pm last night, I'm sure others have as well. Haven't gotten a reply nor expecting one. But yeah, he could probably end this mess in one post.

:iagree: someone other than the op should contact Tuan and make him aware of this thread and that his name has been brought up a few times and it would be great if he could come and post some info about his deal with the Dr and pics of the tort. The op says he has asked but who knows if he really has or if he's explained the whole situation to tuan.

Having seen him in here reading this thread several times, he's obviously well aware of the situation. He just doesn't appear to have any interest in helping his fellow herpers out. Hard not to speculate about just why he'd want to actively avoid doing so.

It has been questioned here why the Dr. would take a sick tortoise to begin with but in post #151 he indicates he questioned that it was sick but was assured by Ici that it was not and was only hissing which he did indicate it does in his original posted ad ... but either it was sick when Dr took it .. he got it Sunday ... to the vets on Wednesday .. dead and disposed of on Thursday .. if one believes the tortoise did indeed die :) If it did .. you bet I'd be making some noise to get money back from Ici ... not negotiating an end to this at extra expense to me ... not to mention about 1100 worth of additional cost in vet/disposal paid for on two different credit cards .. which would mean that the Dr. took the tortoise home and it died?
I do feel that this scenario is most likely not the case ... which means the tortoise is still alive and living with someone ... I would assume the Dr. ... I assume but we have yet to see proof that the pictures Ici is presenting as "taken" by Tuan more than likely were sent to Tuan by the Dr. and then he used them to make his inquiries on the tortoise to Ici and Bill (Zovick) with the intention of perhaps flipping it ... when he was unable to determine without a doubt that the animal was indeed son of #443 (confirming lineage) he opted out of deal /... if I had to guess. I agree with someone here that ones interpretation of the texts which have been alluded to multiple times can vary ... my understanding of them has resulted in my explanation above to as the whereabouts of the tortoise.
In the end ... neither the Dr. or Ici have shown up to post evidence in support of their stands ... so we may never know the truth! If by chance the Dr. still has the tortoise he should sell it back to Ici for 3700 and his ring and be done with it if he wants an end to all this ... otherwise it looks to me as if we have a couple of dishonest people for have been far from fore-coming and transparent :)

Is it possible the Dr has some how scared Tuan into silence? Maybe he threatened Tuan and that's why he hasn't posted here. If he did threaten you Tuan don't be afraid of him he's all bark and no bite, don't be afraid to post here.

Guess that answers our questions, no need for me to visit there now. It's quite obvious that they DO NOT offer any of the veterinary services listed on that reciept.
Perhaps you should stop in, as both NY state and NYC require separate licenses to practice as a vet. Take a copy of the receipt. I doubt any business would be happy to find a "receipt" posted online for licensed services that they don't provide, as that could potentially land them in legal hot water.

I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THE OP AND MYSELF ARE IN THE PROCESS OF SETTLING THIS AMICABLY..THE POST WILL BE UPDATED IN NEXT DAY OR SO THAT THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED
