After my first inquiry you replied that you had 4 pairs, that was it. Then you replied that you had other's interested, that was it. It wasn't until me pushing you for pictures and telling you that I would not be shipping them that you said "As I already said, I have other's interested...".

You never said "The pairs are sold"...which is what a normal person would do. I kept at you because I wanted to see what you would say or do. I have known about these threads on the BOI for some time and have even posted on this thread well before my emails with you recently.

Summed up... The words of a victim who came forward to close friends who are big names in the industry after she got scammed by Garrett..Sat by as countless others got scammed and did/said nothing. Whinned and complained behind the scenes for almost a year and then finally got what she was paid for. Wow, good for you Maria! What about the half dozen plus other people who gave gave Garrett money over a year ago, have been lied to, threatened and bullied into submission and have yet to receive anything? We get it... You only speak for yourself and your experience. Glad to hear things worked out for you.

Do you have evidence of what you are saying here? Whether what you have claimed is the case here or not, it is not what she said.

Patrick, Lynn, and Chris, while I appreciate your skepticism of Garrick Smith's current business practices based upon his history, I do believe we're doing the BOI a disservice by continually discounting others who may come forward with more information.

If anyone has done business with Garrick and had a positive experience, they should also post it here. However, because of Garrick's history, I request that proof of those transactions are posted, including but not limited to receipts, correspondences, and most importantly, the necessary permits and licenses required to import/export the animals in question. If you are posting positive feedback about Garrick, please understand that Garrick's own history of personal, vindictive attacks against those who are skeptical of him selling high-profile species (especially given his prior smuggling conviction) have led some of us to be even more skeptical, even critical, of his business transactions. The first hundred or so posts within this thread is probably all you would have to read to get an accurate summary of all that has occurred... the rest is ultimately back-and-forth fluff.

Likewise, if anyone has had recent negative business transactions with Garrick, please post them here or start a new BOI thread.

Garrick, I do request that you at least give us the name of the "original importer" you are getting those dragons from.

This is indeed correct. People should not feel like the environment is hostile to those deciding to or considering to post their experiences (be they positive or negative). Confining them to a single thread is the preference, but I understand if this thread is a bit "much" at this point with the way it has been going. That said, it is the traditional preference all the same. That posting a positive experience in this thread feels like it requires extra fortitude relative to the normal openness of an average thread is no less than a shame from my perspective.

If an environment is created by posters such that contributions are automatically outright attacked without presentation of evidence and dissection of the merits of the (positive and/or negative) claims involved, then it is unjust due to artificially attempting to force a unilateral narrative. Garrett, just so you can be better educated to how an honest person does business, here's a scenario for you. This is how respectable people do business. I've dealt with a lot of importers/exporters and breeders around the world. The commonality has been this same scenario, which builds respect and life long customers. Everything you're not.

Buyer 1: Asks about animals and for pictures.

Seller: Sends pictures and complete info on animals for sale. Leaves nothing to the imagination. Makes sure that the buyer knows exactly what they'd be getting.

Potential buyer 1: Declines and moves on.

Seller: Keeps ad up.

Potential buyer 2: Asks about animals and for pictures...

Potential buyer 3: Asks about the animals and for pictures...

Seller: Again, Sends pictures and complete info on animals for sale. Leaves nothing to the imagination. Makes sure that the buyer knows exactly what they'd be getting. This time all he has to do is forward the emails he previously wrote to the 1st potential buyer. Easy.

Potential buyer 3 buys animals.

Seller: Ad is still up by mistake.

Potential buyer 4: Ask about the animals and for pictures...

Seller: In detail lets the potential buyer know that the animals have sold.

Potential buyer 4: Would still like to know about the animals and would love to see pictures of what they looked like.

Seller: Forwards the same email with pictures that he's already sent to the other potential buyers.

That is the easiest way to deal with people. Just keep forwarding the same email with the same pictures to anyone who asks.

My names Garrett...Not Garrick. No biggie. And Yes you are asking politely thank you.....but as you may or may not know I don't believe in the BOI system for obviously reasons. I got into trouble importing 13 years ago and luckily got out of it and learned how to do it properly. With that said there is no way in hell would I do anything illegal. Believe me when I say....I have legal paperwork for everything that I import. All of the information about Australia importing and exporting can be easily looked up.

A normal and honest person would just supply whatever documents were being requested in order to clear themselves that were not privet (bank details...etc). But again, that is what a normal and honest person does.....

Garrett, you may be an importer. You may even get in the animals you actually put up ads for. But you have dug yourself one big deep hole, and you've done it to yourself. I've spoken to the Australian government DIRECTLY about obtaining import permits for certain "CBB" animals from licensed breeders in AU and was told that I'd have more luck turning coal into diamonds.

You have such a terrible reputation that it's beyond me that you are still around. If I were you I'd be too embarrassed to even peek my head around a corner...

2. When someone tells you that someone else is interested. Maybe ask if the person backs out or doesn't fully commit "can I be next in line." You had 5 people politely do this exact thing.

3. When someone tells you that someone else is interested in the animals and you truly are interested, you probably shouldn't call people a dumbf*ck on your third e-mail. Or is that how a respectable person in YOUR community acts?

4. If the animals were not sold when you inquired about them. You were demanding things in your e-mails. Telling me how it was going to work. That may work at Walmart for you...but I don't put up with it. Typical I will politely say, the said animals are sold. I don't need to sell you anything.

According to the indictment, Smith, working with an unknown international co-conspirator known as "Turtle Man," (believed to reside in Singapore), engaged in a conspiracy to illegally smuggle wild tortoises into the United States for sale.

The overseas conspirator and others acting at his direction obtained Burmese Star Tortoises and Indian Star Tortoises in Asia and sold them to Smith via e-mail transactions. The tortoises, which were illegally imported into this country without proper documentation and with misleading labels, were then sold to distributors and customers across the United States. Approximately 30 protected Indian Star Tortoises and five protected Burmese Star Tortoises were imported illegally. Burmese Star adults can sell on the black market for up to $7,000 each, with juveniles and sub-adults selling for approximately $3,750.

This case was investigated by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.

Apologies Garrett, not sure where I got Garrick from. You made a positive claim that you are importing the dragons from the "original importer," thus you are the one who should provide the name. "Not believing in the BOI" is not a valid excuse for not providing a name. Not openly providing that information makes it seem like you 1) made the claim up to boost sales, 2) are getting the animals second-hand through another seller who made the claim but didn't provide you with the name of the "original importer," or 3) the origins of these animals are illegal in nature.

Given the nature of your prior smuggling conviction, I would think you would want to be more forthcoming and open to clear your name and reputation of previous wrong-doing. By not doing so it only convinces an already skeptical market that you learned nothing from your previous experience and are continuing shady, possibly illegal, importations of sensitive and protected wildlife species.
