In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I brought a Moroccan cobra to Underground Reptiles in response to their message that they would look at it and make an offer. I never heard back but saw it for sale online for $350. I contacted them and was made an offer which I found too low and said the animal would be picked up. Within a week and with no further communication the animal was sold. I received no compensation.

James can you please post screen shots any emails/messages? When did this take place? I have notified them of this thread.

If that is what happened that's awful, but personally I would never leave an animal with someone or enter into an agreement that is not fully agreed upon, with that being said you deserve to have your animal back and at least there is small claims court but I don't know what you show for damages because you didn't have an agreed-upon price when you left it

Why would you leave an animal with someone with no agreement regarding the compensation parameters and with a company with such an awful reputation.

A couple of years ago they were implicated in spreading a deadly fungal infection and in fact they still carrying wild caught North American snakes which means their facility is likely to be infested with it again at any time. Personally, I wouldn't want the snake back once it had been through those doors!

Melissa, what I gather from the OP's post is that Underground Reptiles had posted an ad that they were looking for new stock, and people could bring them animals and they would make an offer.

The OP brought a Moroccan cobra to Underground, and left it there to get an offer. Instead, the animal was sold without being paid for, and the OP never received compensation for the animal.

Is this correct, garsik?

My questions are:

1. Were you told to leave the animal with Underground Reptiles pending an offer?

2. Why did you wait so long to bring this to the BOI? With several years having gone by, it may be difficult to recoup any expenses now.

Where did you see when this happened, is the OP posting elsewhere?
OP, please bring emails and screenshots here.

Lucille,

My bad. I confused the post about them spreading fungal disease and the OP's post to think that the OP's transaction happened several years ago.
I apparently need more caffeine today!

I doubt we will get an answer from Underground, they are currently online.

Nothing about this accusation is true or accurate and we will post a complete and detailed response tomorrow. HOWEVER Mr Lewis' post about us and this supposed fungal disease a water snake developed over 3 months after the purchase is also incredibly inaccurate and false we were accused and cleared as this and the turd who made the accusation was banned from this forum and was found to be an activist who uses fake names in all areas of different flora and fauna industries making false accusations against a number of companies with the intention of petitioning the government to ban said animals and plants. Please get facts straight before libeling someone and remember what this forum is supposed to be for. see you tomorrow...

I am still not having luck posting screenshots. These were sent to Underground Reptiles and perhaps they will be kind enough to post them. On 1/15 I explained that I was downsizing collection and asked what would be a good time to bring them in. They response was to bring them in any time and they would make an offer. There are also texts dated 2/23, 2/26, 3/10, 3/12, 3/14 and 3/15. These were follow ups asking for the promised offer. I will continue to try to upload.

Oh please. First, Joe isn't banned. Secondly, even the stock photos you took of your wild caught Nerodia had lesions on them. I've attached an image I took, just now, from your banded watersnake page. Look at that gorgeous non-shed potential-SFD infected eye. Get this disease for the low, low price of $6.99! What a bargain!

If you're selling wild caught animals you're bound to be transporting diseases around, you just caught with your pants down on this one. But sure, in the three months he had the snakes in his care they spontaneously came down with snake fungal disease and died. That's not how fungal infections work. This is a long-term illness that eventually causes the demise of the snake. Stop selling and shipping wild-caught snakes for pennies on the dollar that are potential carriers of a deadly illness and then maybe we'll start taking you seriously.

The other thread, for those interested.

But, back on topic, for such a "good" company you sure are in here defending yourself an awful lot. I'll wait to see what both of you have to say when you finally get the evidence in order. Until then, I'm not holding my breath.
