In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A Greenwich man says in a $30 million lawsuit against town police that officers violated his constitutional rights when they arrested him for allegedly keeping a crocodile in his home.

Gary Ryder, 50, filed the lawsuit earlier this week in U.S. District Court in Hartford, claiming police entered his home without a warrant and later attempted to blackmail him by saying they had photographs of the reptile in his home.

Ryder was charged in September with illegal possession of a reptile and risk of injury to a minor. His case is pending.

Police Chief James Walters said the lawsuit has no merit. The town has not yet responded in court to the lawsuit.

Ryder accuses police of violating his Fourth Amendment right against unreasonable searches and seizures, his 14th Amendment rights to due process and equal protection under the law and his First Amendment right of free association.

The lawsuit also claims that police harassed Ryder in part because he is gay, saying the laws against owning reptiles were enforced selectively against Ryder, rather than against straight couples who own reptiles.

Ryder's lawyer, Dawne Westbrook, said the case is among the strangest she has ever seen.

"It seems like it's made up," she said. "The facts seem like a bad law school fact pattern."

But she said she has police reports and other documents to back up all the accusations.

Police never found the crocodile. A town resident reported seeing a crocodile in Bruce Park in September.

Besides arresting Ryder, police also removed his and his partner's three children from his home.

this will be an interesting case to follow...while I agree that an individual should probably not have a crocodile in a home (with kids? who is this guy, Irwin wannabe?) it does look like the police might have overstepped their bounds by quite a bit...

That is the key point. Whether they actually had one or not who knows, but the fact is one was not found, but the kids were still removed.

We have no idea what this guy was actually keeping. The newspaper and police said "crocodile". So... do you think he was keeping a saltie? For all we know, it might have been a 12" Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman. Not everyone who keeps crocodilians is a "Irwin wannabe".

Pretending this post isn't a month old.

Here is another site I found when looking for the latest on this case. Not sure how accurate it is, but it sounds right. I like hearing other victims of the Connecticut legal system, at least I'm not the only one that got treated like crap in my brief stay in that hell hole.
