In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info US GLOBAL EXOTICS SPCA RAID

It could be a large variety of reasons. None are excuses though, but logical reasons that can happen at places that large.

1 If this raid was to be done because of the bills coming up.. Why did they not raid all importers/ exporters?
-BECAUSE MOST IMPORTERS/EXPORTERS are in florida. Florida FWS regulates them, not local animal control. Animal control in florida has no jursidiction unless its visibly preventative and they jump in, but tehy themselves do not have the possesion permits required to posses certain animals in florida.
2 How can 8 people properly care for 22000 plus animals?
DEPENDS on how you look at it. Was it 22000 small mammals? then thats alot, but if it is snakes, I know plenty of people who take care of 3,000+ snakes by themselves. If mostly reptiles, and amphibians, not too hard. The small exotic mammals are when its tough with such little staff. W dont have numbers on whats what, so how are we gonna know which is which?

3 Why did they not get rid of the dead animals that were found in boxes the morning of the raid? I think dead animals should be properly taking care of daily.
This is a touchy subject. Alot of importers/exporters are required to take photos of doa or bad animals and report them to the shippers. They may have been being held for photo reasons and then disposed of, or they may have been just sitting there( which I doubt). We also have to think, if they were deceased,as claimed, maybe trash day is that day, and they were gonna be disposed of. I seriously doubt any outfit would leave them there for customers to see without a logical reason.
Stuff happens in shipping, bad weather, airlines left them in sun or cold, etc. You need to make a claim, and the dead bodies are evidence to the claim. You have to prove they died,so maybe phtoos were being taken and they were waiting for trash guy to come?
Either way, I truly hope they are not the way the media claims.

Also USDA has jurisdiction on US GLOBAL and I dont see why the local animal control is involved. USDA has records of inspections, and trust me, any and all infractions are noted and ticketed by them. If he was in compliance by a federal enforcement agency, I do not see why local animal control has anything to do with it.
USDA is strict, has exact protocols, etc.
You have to show vet inspections, health certificates, trail of paperwork of where animals came from, where they go, etc.
If USDA didnt raid them, then honestly, on the mammal part, no one should have.
There is no federal agency that regulates reptiles sort of speak. That is left to the state level. But in texas things look like they work a little backwards? Or does it just show how hungry PETA and humane societies can be to get donations and notoriety?

I cannot share the list that I have that was sent to the SPCA pet partners, rescues, and zoos in preparation for the possibility of distribution, so please don't ask me to, but I can tell you for the sake of debate that the numbers on the lists reflect large numbers of animals from both reptile and mammal groups. There were also some birds, though they are not on the current list. There are of course higher numbers of feeder type mammals and reptiles, but there are also high numbers of the more common pet trade exotics from both groups, and wholesale numbers of the slightly less common. Then there are small numbers of rarer species in both groups.

I have to add my $.02. PETA have their agenda. Of course they're going to put the worst of the worst on their site. I certainly wouldn't put it past them to sabotage Global to further their agenda or shut down a company THEY don't like. Yeah, there are some bad scenes in that video. Is that it, out of what? 6 months of undercover investigation? And where is the proof that it wasn't caused by the worker himself, slacking in his duties to help make for better video. Surely a $300 check COULD drive someone to "produce" results.

I'm not siding with Global or PETA, but like most cases, I'm almost positive we're not getting (or are going to get) an accurate story.

Does the SPCA get inspected by USDA? If they are handling these animals, do they know thesize requirement for hamster caging, glider caging, etc? I think they should. Wonder what USDA would find if they inspected them since so many animals are dying due to "neglect at us global". If that were the case, and it was his fault, he would have been out of business YEARS ago from loss of inventory and money. I think everything is jumbled. Some is right and some is wrong, but the scope of it,in my opinion, is that this is blown way out of proportion. But oh well, PETA and the whackos win again.

I don't know what their policies/restrictions are regarding reptiles yet, but I do know that the guidelines for transporting mammals is almost too restrictive. They are requiring a cat sized kennel PER hedgehog.

I am trying to stay neutral here because my objective/interest is in what happens to the animals now, from this point forward, but based on what I am seeing in these lists, the types of species and the number breakdowns, I find it hard to imagine how only six people could possibly have taken proper care of these animals, if that employee number is true.

Possibly so. What do you mean a cat size kennel per hedgehog? For travel? thats not correct. Maybe personal travel, but not commercial travel. Possibly for travel for shows, exhibits, etc, but def. not commercial travel. USDA said this? just curious.

ALSO USDA follows IATA regulations if I am not mistaken. Its a solid HUGE book of animals per box/bag/shipment size, etc etc and IATA on hedgehogs is def. not a cat kennel.

@ Rosebud945:

Your last two post are SO ambiguous that they barely qualify as a rumor. If you are really not allowed to share information- then don't. If you want to post about this topic with specifics and/or examples, please do. Based on what you have implied, you should not be posting anything about this topic at all to keep it "hush hush".

Thanks.

The "lists" so secretly guarded are possibly public domain in court as they had to be presented in court. I dont see why the list of animals confiscatedis so "secret". Hell , now that I think of it, I have the list, its called his pricelist from the day before the raid. Lol. Probably went out to over 300 businesses. So in other words, its not a secret. Maybe not the total number of animals at the facility, but a good indiciation. Does it even matter? Now the LOCATION of the animals is a secret.

yes, you are right. You can look at the sale list and see exactly what he had. The list that I have is really no different except that some animals that died are no longer on it. That should tell you that it wasn't mostly snakes, or mostly feeder rats, etc. There was a huge mix of animals in his facility, and a bit much for only 6 employees, IMO.

The carrier restriction is the SPCA rule for transporting.

Why does the location where the animals are being kept a guarded secret?
I mean, what purpose does it serve to keep a "location" secret?
Are they afraid they will get "raided"?

I am nowhere near as large as Global. A small outfit compared to them.
but... I am running a tight ship.
No one in. No cameras, no video equipment, no cell phone.....
Animals go to shows and back or to Fed Ex/Delta to be shipped.

We as hobbyists/breeders/dealers need to learn from this.
Anything and everything can be twisted to suit the enemy.

We clean cages every day. Water, and feed on a daily and weekly bases, depending on animal(s) cared for.

Me personally, don't want to be on the 6 o'clock news like Jansen did.

As soon as we take this for granted, that we are under attack, the sooner we can come together and start fighting for our rights.

A ticking time bomb, that will soon go off.......

I realize that PETA vid is edited but damn that's messed up.

Ubaldo Alonso

I just don't believe there is any way that you can edit something like the owner clearly laughing and chuckling at the prospect of selling an injured snake with a broken jaw and a perforated eye for $35, and claiming its a good deal.

Very true , that part was discussing .

I didn't say that. I said that PETA is going to edit the video to suit their own purpose. We don't know what condition that wallaby was when it arrived at US Global Exotics. We don't know how long it had been there. We don't know if the undercover "vet tech" employeed by PETA whacked it over the head. We don't know. What we do know is that PETA has an agenda, and that is to shut down all animal breeders and pet shops, and to shut down all scientific labs that do testing on animals.

:iagree::iagree::iagree::iagree:

Kelli nailed it, period.....
