• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

    ID of awesome Pit at expo

    An acquaintance of mine recently went to an expo in Chicago, and among the photos she posted is this one: Unfortunately, she doesn't recall the name of the exhibitor or anything about the snake, so she's given me permission to post it in search of answers (I can only assume she had...

    Turtle shell question - is this normal?

    I recently (within the past month) got a baby Cagle's Map turtle. So far, everything's been fine - he's happily swimming around a 20-long tank, periodically coming out to bask, and I've been doing 20% water changes daily. However, recently his shell has developed an oddity. The edges of the...

    Guess the lizard - obscure/rare species

    I figured this might be a fun game. I took these photos while doing some brief fieldwork in Belize, and thought you'd all get a kick out of them. I know what species they are, but thought everyone would get a kick out of playing 'Guess the lizard'. So, any guesses? I'll let everyone know...

    Webcam of African watering hole

    This was posted on another forum I'm on, and I figured it'd be appreciated here. http://bsalert.com/artsearch.php?fn=2&as=1398&dt=1 It's a live webcam, with audio, pointed at a watering hole in a South African Game reserve. Right now it's night there, and I can hear the frogs croaking to each...

    International Shipping?

    Ok, I've run into a huge problem and I'm hoping someone can help me out. Last year, my GF was in the US as an exchange student (she's from the UK). While here, she bought a beardie (regular, female, nothing special). The plan was for me to ship it on to her once she returned to the UK, and I...

    Keeping marine worms?

    Specifically, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about keeping marine sandworms/clamworms (whatever the common name is, Polychaete worms of genus Nereis). I know they're sold a bait for marine fishing, but I'm more interested in keeping them alive, and wondering how to do so. I know...
