For identification purposes, it is always best to have photos of a top view and a bottom view.
Although not really a necessity, including side views can, sometimes (depending), be helpful.
That being said, this turtle looks to be a Common Musk Turtle aka Stinkpot Turtle (Sternotherus odoratus).

Lucky turtle that she was rescued from a pool! I hope you let the little girl go.

This is actually a striped mud turtle, Kinosternon baurii. Mud and musk turtles can be tricky to tell apart, but the prominent hinge on mud turtles is on the rear half of the plastron (mud turtles actually have two hinges), whereas it's in the front half on musk turtles (which only have one hinge).

Please consider creating an account in Herpmapper.org and uploading your photo along with relevant information to the database. Location information is obscured to county-level only, or you can personally choose to entirely obscure the record from public view. Data are used by scientists to monitor location information of reptiles and amphibians worldwide.

Thanks for the information. I did let it go in a nearby pond that's inhabited by a variety of turtles in great numbers.
Can you guess at gender?
