The cognac and slow music are not working. Any other tips?

In my experience it took nothing to get them to breed... Basically if you have one male--NOT two as they will fight, often to the death (that's how I lost my favorite big white buck back in the day)--and put him in with a bunch of females, they'll all be pregnant within a couple weeks. As long as you have bedding material like aspen, pine, carefresh, etc. and a sipper bottle and sufficient food, they should breed. Make sure you feed them enough, too, or they'll eat the babies. (That's the biggest cause of parent-infant cannibalism, contrary to the popular belief that touching them will cause the mother to kill them.) If they're not breeding despite this, then...hmm....I'd say maybe try not to disturb them much, but that doesn't seem to matter since my mice and rats back in the day didn't care if I was standing there, feeding them, cleaning the cage, etc., they'd just go at it...yeah...So.....let me make sure I read that right: your mice are 'spittin' a lot? As in spitting, like, ptooey? That's really weird-sounding to me... Not sure what you mean.

Was that the kind of advice you needed? I'm not really sure, it's much simpler than breeding herps, no temp or humidity requirements, no cooling or incubation of eggs....For me it's always been mice+mice = a whole bunch more mice.. lol
Maybe yours are sick or improperly sexed or something....?

Also I'm sure that Kingsnake.com has a rodent-breeding forum, since this isn't actually the proper place to be asking a question like this. Just so you know.

Check the ambient temperature, it should not drop under 70 close to 75F preferred. Is the diet adequate? Are you buying mice/rat food?

I use rodent chow, with sunflower seeds and cracked corn mixed in. By spitting I meant that they are producing plenty of young. They are in my basement with the temps from &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 65-70 degrees. The colonies have only been together for about 2-3 weeks now, so more time may be the key. If the cognac and music did not work, then give the females a godd few licks of gin - but give the males some tequila. This should do the trick!

Personally I think if you have it all set up right then either the male or females are too young, or you just need to wait a bit. Some rats that loook big may only really be on the small size if all your prior experience has been mice. They may need to grow some mnore before being sexually mature.
