Man Pleads Guilty To Illegally Selling Snakes
 

DENVER (AP) A man who kept scores of exotic and venomous snakes in his Firestone home was sentenced Friday to 1{ years in prison.

Brook Berntson, 37, pleaded guilty in May to a federal charge of interstate trafficking of wildlife and being a felon in possession of firearms, U.S. attorney's spokesman Jeff Dorschner said.

Federal officers seized 99 snakes, including rattlesnakes, cobras and vipers, along with drugs and weapons in a June 2003 raid of his home in Firestone, about 20 miles north of Denver.

Berntson was also ordered to give up his snakes and the snake care equipment, which is worth approximately $100,000.
