Rescued Burmese

Hello all,
I just wanted to share with you some pictures and such of a Burmese python I rescued yesterday. The owner was being stationed on a military base and couldn't take either of his snakes (Burmese and RTB) and was looking for someone to care for them. Me, and my bleeding heart for all things scaly, was the person willing to care for them.

When I picked them up I was astonished with what I saw. The burm has rat bites all over her body, but mainly in the neck area, and she also has these marks that look like bruises. I soaked her in a warm bath (she is in shed) and it facilitated a bowel movement that was mainly urate, which leads me to believe she hasn't been fed in a while.

The RTB is is a little better condition, minus the fact that part of the top of its mouth looks like its been chewed off.

I am mainly focusing on the burm here though as she seems to have more pertinent injuries.

I apologize for the quality of the pictures, my phone camera is not the best...

I guess the reason I came here and made this post is because I am looking for some...advice...I guess you would call it. I plan on making a vet apt for her to get her checked out, but in the meantime if anyone has ever seen "bruises" like the ones pictured and can tell me what the heck its from I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance!

If not bruises, do you think they may be some sort of burn? That was my first thought, but perhaps try asking in the 'General Health Issues' section for more opinions. Someone may recommend you look into silver sulfadiazine if it is, but I think a good vet who can actually look at the animals in person won't be beat. No offense meant, but the picture of it's neck is sorta hard to make out... A photo of the boa's mouth might help too. I'd be concerned about an infection or issues feeding since that's a bit of a sensitive area.

I applaud you for taking them in and giving them a home though, not everyone can properly care for critters so large. Sorry I can't help more, but I'm wishing them the best! Hope they do well for you and heal smoothly~

Thank you, I guess I didn't scroll down far enough to see the "health issues" I will post it there as well and "close this one/post a link"

I was wondering if they could be burns as well, they are slightly raised.

I will include a picture of the boa's face as well. It looks as if it is almost healed.
