    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hubby getting closer to catching the Big Bug! :)

As some of you know, my hubby freaked out on the first leo I brought home. No Reptiles Aloud! LOL He has since slowly come around, asking how my male that was prolapsed is, saying one of the hatchlings is cute, etc. Still has not touched one yet, coming soon, I'm sure. Well today, I'm...

    Virgin female with eggs.

I have a female that I got a few months back, from a reputable breeder, who had got her from someone else. As far as I know she has never been with a male. She's only 40.5 grams, so I doubt she's been bred. I believe she is close to a year old, due to the breeder had plans for her this year...

I don't even know where to go with this one. LOL

I'm having a bad day, long story, nothing to do with my little geckos. Well one of my employees calls and tells me, "I have something that will put a smile on your face!" He tells me to go to this site www.brucehale.com. Well he was right, this is so cute. Special note: If you have a...

    Second year breeders

Now I'm really getting excited. Last week I realized that my second year breeders were finally ovulating. So I moved them down stairs out of their breeder tank into a large tub (out of my son's room, don't want to wake him up again when I find eggs in the wee hours), and added the male, he was...

To New Breeders thinking they are going to make Big $$$

If you are just starting out and think you are going to make big bucks breeding Leos please think again. All the breeders here will tell you, that breaking even may be the only thing you may accomplish, if that. It takes money and lots of it, to get to where you will even start to break...

Knock down draged out Cat Fight!

OMG. I have breeding group of 1.3, I have one of those female's past cage mates on loan. Since I'll be breeding her with the same male as the other three I decided to reintroduce the two and the other two. I watched as they all greeted each other, and everything seemed fine, no aggressions...

    My litte "BIG" Piggy

On 1/22/06 I picked this girl up at a local show from JMG. She was hatched 11/16/05, and at the time I got her she was 17.9 grams and 7". She is such a little piggy, she eats everything! She eats more that any other Leo I've had at her age and size. She is now at 3 months old 31.3 grams and...

    Feeders

I've changed my geckos diet from crickets, mealies and the occasional wax worm to, mainly supers, with a twice a month treat of chasing crickets, and once a month wax worms, females get a pinky once in a while. I've had them on this diet for a few months now. They all seem to gain much more...

    Necco growing up

Some of you may remember my little guy Necco from JMG. He was 7.5 grams when I got him 10/22/05. Such a little guy. But he's been growing up very nice and is 40 grams now. Enjoy!

    The waiting game!

This is my second year breeding. The first year was a late start, and only got two clutches each from three of my girls and 1 from the other. Now that I have more females ready (age/size). I'm finding waiting for the eggs to hatch is not as bad as last year. I think it's the excitement of...

At least my gecko remembered! LOL

LOL I got a great little Birthday present from one of my females this morning. I knew she was due to lay any day now. She had laid 2 infertile eggs (first clutch laid this year) about three weeks ago. She also aborted one of her eggs last week. Then I checked in on her this morning and...

    Blugy Female???

Well, a friend of mine that got one of two Leos housed together, called me up to let me know the power was out on his street and the house was getting cold. I told him to bring the Leo over and I could house HIM, for him, till the power was restored and the house was not so cold. Now the...

    What's the longest?

I have a clutch that was laid 1/31/06, that still looks yellow inside. But otherwise it still looks good, no denting, no mold, and no smell. My questions is, what is the longest it has taken for an egg to show pink or signs of veins? I'm not going to throw it out till it starts to smell, but...

    I got BIT......

By the Crestie Bug! I keep 23 Leopard geckos (I should say they keep me), so I'm not new to geckos. Cresties have their own cuteness that I just love. I have not bought one yet, however I'm eyeing one, and want to get him before someone else does. Don't find many of them by me. I got to hold...

    Big Chain Store Surprised Me!

I was out shopping today, or I should say taking my son shopping to spend his allowance and we stopped in a Pet Suplies Plus, to pick up the new Reptiles mag. Usually I won't even look at their animals because it just makes me sad. However I had not been in this one before and I noticed from...

Change in Digging of Gravid Female

I noticed this last year on the last clutch of the season, and I'm also noticing it this year with my first two. The females seem to dig like mad at first with their front two legs. And then just before laying they start to dig with their hind legs. They alternate between the two hind legs...

    DIY Incubator?

I'm looking into making my own incubator. I done some searches to see what some have done, and there seems to be a few options. I want to build one out of a wine cool. They are very pleasing to the eye and I like the glass door to see in, w/o having to open the door. What would be the best...
